  DESCRIPTION
4¼" X 7¾" LINED NOTEBOOK PAGE SECTION, SIGNED BY THE BEATLES,
AUTOGRAPHED BETWEEN SEPTEMBER 19-24, WEST MALLING AIR STATION, MAIDSTONE KENT, DURING FILMING OF "MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR".

THE BEATLES "MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR" FILM WAS ESSENTIALLY PAUL MCCARTNEY'S IDEA, THOUGHT UP AS HE RETURNED FROM A TRIP TO THE U.S. IN THE LATE SPRING OF 1967, AND WAS LOOSELY INSPIRED BY PRESS COVERAGE PAUL HAD READ ABOUT KEN KESEY'S MERRY PRANKSTERS' LSD-FUELLED AMERICAN BUS ODYSSEY. PAUL FELT INSPIRED TO TAKE THIS IDEA AND BLEND IT WITH THE PECULIARLY ENGLISH WORKING CLASS TRADITION OF CHARABANC MYSTERY TOURS, IN WHICH CHILDREN TOOK CHAPERONED BUS RIDES THROUGH THE ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE, DESTINATION UNKNOWN.

THE FILM WAS CRITICALLY DISMISSED WHEN IT WAS AIRED ON THE BRITISH BROADCASTING COMPANY'S PREMIER TELEVISION NETWORK, BBC-1, ON BOXING DAY, DECEMBER 26, 1967 - A DAY PRIMARILY FOR TRADITIONAL "COZY, FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT". WHILE THE FILM HAS HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE AS AN EARLY ADVANCE INTO THE MUSIC VIDEO AGE, AT THE TIME MANY VIEWERS FOUND IT PLOT LESS AND CONFUSING. SO DID THE BRITISH TV CRITICS, WHO LAMBASTED THE FILM. COMPOUNDING THIS CULTURE CLASH WAS THE FACT THAT THE FILM WAS MADE IN COLOR AND MADE USE OF COLOR FILTERS FOR SOME OF THE SCENES - PARTICULARLY IN A SEQUENCE FOR "BLUE JAY WAY". IN DECEMBER 1967, PRACTICALLY NO ONE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM OWNED A COLOR TELEVISION SET, THE SERVICE ONLY HAVING STARTED A FEW MONTHS EARLIER.

FILMING COMMENCED ON SEPTEMBER 11, 1967 AND THE FIRST TWO-WEEK CORE SHOOTING PERIOD HAD THE BEATLES BOARDING THEIR COACH AND HEADING FOR FIVE DAYS OF LOCATION WORK IN THE WEST COUNTRY. FROM THE 19TH THROUGH THE 24TH THE SHOOT MOVED TO RAF WEST MALLING AIR STATION, DUE TO THE BEATLES UNABLE TO BOOK A STAGE AT SHEPPERTON OR ANY OF THE OTHER LONDON-AREA FILM STUDIOS AT SUCH SHORT NOTICE. SITUATED 28 MILES FROM LONDON, WEST MALLING WAS USED IN WORLD WAR II AS A BASE FOR THE UNITED STATES ARMY AIR FORCE. The group FILMED various sceneS at thIS LOCATION: these included the Magicians Laboratory sequence, in which the four Beatles and Mal Evans cast spells on the destiny and direction of the Magical Mystery Tour bus, ‘Aunt Jessie’s Dream’ in which John Lennon shoveled mountains of spaghetti onto Jessie’s dining table, George Harrison 'Blue Jay Way' Sequence and on the final day, the huge ballroom sequence was shot.

THIS MOST OUTSTANDING 4¼" X 7¾" OFF-WHITE COLORED LINED NOTEBOOK SHEET PAGE WAS SIGNED BEAUTIFULLY BY THE BEATLES, obtained at RAF West Malling Air Station, West Malling, Maidstone, Kent, England between the 19th and 24th September 1967. John, George AND Ringo have signed in black ballpoint pen, WHILE Paul has signed in black felt tipped pen. THE SIGNED PAGE REMAINS IN VERY GOOD PLUS CONDITION. The paper haD been folded THEN laid flat OVER TIME. THE FOLDS  DO NOT INTERFERE OR HINDER THESE STUNNING AND RARE 1967 AUTOGRAPHS - MOST EXCELLENT EXAMPLES FROM THIS PERIOD. this is our second signed set from this filming location, the other being recently sold (ITEM # AA145).

The autographs come with a letter from the niece of the recipient that reads:
The Beatles signed the autographs in 1967 when they were filming 'Magical Mystery Tour' in West Malling, Kent. My Aunt was living in married quarters at RAF West Malling whilst my Uncle, who was in the RAF, was serving in Aden. She was working as a cook for the film crew and came into contact with The Beatles. She asked them for the autographs and took some photos for me. I was 14 years old at the time so clearly delighted to receive them’.

FINALLY AND AMAZINGLY .... The autographs ARE ACCOMPANIED with three REPRODUCTIONS prints which were taken PERSONALLY AND CANDIDLY BY THE RECIPIENT OF THE AUTOGRAPHS during the filming at thIS WEST MALLING LOCATION: The Beatles dressed as magicians, one of Ringo Starr and one of John Lennon’s psychedelic Rolls Royce.

ACCOMPANIED BY LIFETIME LETTERS OF AUTHENTICITY FROM FRANK CAIAZZO AND FAB 4 COLLECTIBLES.
