ALTHOUGH THE BEATLES CARTON FEATURE FILM "YELLOW SUBMARINE" PREMIERED IN ENGLAND ON JULY 17, 1968, THE SOUNDTRACK ALBUM WAS NOT RELEASED UNTIL SIX MONTHS LATER ON JANUARY 17, 1969. RECORD RETAILER PRAISED THE LP: "SIX FUN TRACKS FROM THE BEATLES PLUS SIX ORCHESTRATED GEORGE MARTIN COMPOSITIONS AND HIS ARRANGEMENTS OF "YELLOW SUBMARINE" FIT TOGETHER TO MAKE WHAT IS PROBABLY THE MOST ENTERTAINING BEATLES ALBUM YET". THE LP ENTERED THE RECORD RETAILER CHART AT NUMBER 37, WHILE "THE BEATLES" (WHITE ALBUM) WAS TOPPING THE CHARTS. THE FOLLOWING WEEK IT REACHED ITS PEAK POSITION OF NUMBER THREE.

BEING ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT ORIGINAL FIRST ISSUE U.K. TITLES TO FIND IN RESPECTABLE CONDITION, THIS STUPENDOUS, SUPERB STEREO EXAMPLE IS TRULY ONE OF THE BEST THAT HAS SURFACED TO DATE. THE FRONT LAMINATED, TRI-FLIPBACK 'GARROD & LOFTHOUSE LTD.'  PRINTED STEREO COVER, HAS THE PRINTER'S CREDIT AND PATENT NUMBER ON THE REAR LOWER FLIPBACK. THIS COVER IS A STRONG NEAR MINT, A BRILLIANTLY CLEAN EXAMPLE WITH A VIBRANT, UN-YELLOWED GLOSSY FRONT LAMINATE, THAT BEARS JUST THREE SMALL 'THUMBNAIL'  WRINKLES AND SLIGHT STORAGE RUBBING. THE LOWER CORNERS ARE SHARP AND UNWORN WITH JUST SLIGHT BRUISING TO THE TIPS OF THE UPPER TWO. BOTH OPENING EDGES ARE CLEAN AND UNDAMAGED. THE EXPOSED REAR PANEL IS CLEAN & UNBLEMISHED WITH NO HANDLING MARKS, WRITING OR MISSING PAPER. ALL FLIPBACKS AND SEAMS ARE INTACT AND THE SPINE IS CLEAN AND FULLY WORDED.

THE RECORD IS AN AMAZING, STELLAR NEAR MINT, WITH FACTORY-FRESH, DEEP-GLOSS PLAYING SURFACES WHICH ARE UNMARKED AND 'AS NEW' IN STRONG DAYLIGHT. CLOSER EXAMINATION DIRECTLY BENEATH HALOGEN LIGHT REVEALS JUST ONE OR TWO BARELY VISIBLE WISPY PAPER LINES FROM THE INNER SLEEVE. THERE IS NO GROOVE / PLAY WEAR ANYWHERE. ONLY AN UNPLAYED EXAMPLE WOULD BE AN UPGRADE. THE LABELS ARE EQUALLY MAGNIFICENT, AN UNTARNISHED PAIR BEARING JUST TWO FAINT SPINDLE TRAILS AROUND THE SIDE ONE CENTER HOLE AND A COUPLE OF FAINTER ONES ON SIDE TWO.  BOTH LABELS INCLUDE THE 'SOLD IN UK...' TEXT.  THE MATRIX NUMBERS ARE: YEX 715-1 AND YEX 716-1, WITH THE STAMPER CODES: 2,4 / RO AND 3 / AH.

THE SET IS COMPLETE INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL MATTE BLACK, DIE-CUT INNER-SLEEVE.

ONE WILL NOT will not find a better example OF THIS RARITY..... THE U.K. FIRST STEREO PRESSING OF "YELLOW SUBMARINE".
