FIRST
U.S. PRESSING OF "PRESS TO PLAY" GATEFOLD LP ALBUM
SIGNED BY PAUL McCARTNEY In bold
black marker ON front cover
AUTOGRAPHED SHORTLY FOLLOWING THE ALBUM'S
RELEASE, AUGUST 1986
DESCRIPTION
(ACTUAL IMAGES)
“Press To Play” is Paul’s sixth solo
studio album, released in August 1986, and his first solo album to be issued
internationally by Capitol/EMI following a six-year alliance with Columbia
Records in the United States. The autograph dates from shortly following the
album’s release.
Keen to re-establish himself after
his poorly received 1984 musical film "Give My Regards to Broad Street", PAUL
enlisted producer Hugh Padgham to give the album a contemporary sound. UPON ITS
release ON AUGUST 21, 1986 (CAPITOL PJAS-12475), "Press to Play" received a
mixed critical reception and was PAUL'S poorest-selling studio album up to that
point. Although it failed to make the top 20 in America, the album peaked at
number 8 on the U.K. Albums Chart and achieved gold status from the BPI in
September 1986. Four singles were issued from "Press to Play": "Press",
"Pretty Little Head", "Stranglehold" and "Only Love Remains". "Press" was
a minor success, peaking at number 21 in the U.S.
The signature is STUNNING, vibrant
and beautifully executed, with the overall cover condition grading a VG++,
displaying some paper loss and tears on the edges of the back cover due to the
cover being removed from a frame.
THE ACCOMPANYING RECORD IS NOT
INCLUDED.
THIS BEAUTIFULLY AUTOGRAPHED "PRESS TO PLAY" ALBUM
COVER IS ACCOMPANIED BY A LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY FROM PERRY COX,
PROMINENT BEATLES U.S. RECORDS EXPERT AND AUTHOR OF "THE BEATLES RECORD PRICE
GUIDE" SERIES OF BOOKS.
