  SOMETHING NEW
CAPITOL SXA 2108, JUKEBOX COMPACT 33
RELEASED: OCTOBER 1964
EAST COAST ONLY

(ACTUAL SCANS)

DURING THE SIXTIES, CAPITOL ISSUED STEREO COMPACT 33 DISCS OF SOME OF THE LABEL'S MOST POPULAR ALBUMS FOR JUKEBOX PLAY. THESE 7" RECORDS HAD A SMALL CENTER HOLE AND PLAYED AT 331/3 RPM.

THESE MINI-ALBUMS WERE NORMALLY PROGRAMMED WITH THREE SONGS FROM THE ALBUM ON EACH SIDE OF THE DISC. THE SONGS FEATURED ON THE COMPACT 33 RECORDS WERE OFTEN UNAVAILABLE IN THE 45 SINGLES FORMAT. THE DISCS WERE HOUSED IN A CARDBOARD JACKET, WHICH HAD A MINIATURE REPRODUCTION OF THE ALBUM COVER ON THE FRONT AND A BLANK WHITE BACK SIDE.

CAPITOL PRODUCED THREE BEATLES COMPACT 33S STARTING WITH MEET THE BEATLES, THEN THE BEATLES' SECOND ALBUM AND SOMETHING NEW BEING THE FINAL TWO. ALL THREE WERE MANUFACTURED BY CAPITOL'S SCRANTON FACTORY.

AS THESE RECORDS WERE INTENDED FOR JUKEBOX PLAY, THEY ARE SELDOM FOUND IN MINT OR NEAR MINT CONDITION. WE OFFER HERE, A MOST GLORIOUS EXAMPLE OF THE THIRD BEATLES COMPACT 33 SOMETHING NEW, RELEASED IN OCTOBER 1964 .

THE CONDITION OF THE COVER IS AN ASTONISHING MINT MINUS AND APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN STORED THE DAY IT WAS ISSUED. COLORS AND GRAPHICS ON THE FRONT ARE STUNNING. THE SHEEN TO THE IMAGE SIMPLY GLISTENS.

THE BLANK WHITE BACK COVER IS THE BEST WE HAVE EVER SEEN. NO DIRT, NO RINGWEAR, JUST A COUPLE OF VERY FAINT, LIGHT, HARDLY PERCEPTIBLE SPOTS OF AGE MELLOWING. NOT WORTH MENTIONING, BUT STATED FOR COMPLETE ACCURACY.

THE COMPACT 33'S WERE PRODUCED WITH THE CAPITOL BLACK LABELS, THE OUTER RIM COLOR BAND AND THE CAPITOL LOGO AT THE BOTTOM. THE CONDITION OF THE DISC IS STUNNING TO SAY THE LEAST, GRADED AT A MINT MINUS AND IS UNPLAYED - AS SHINY AND GLEAMING AS THE DAY OF PRODUCTION !

ACCOMPANYING THE SLEEVE AND RECORD ARE FOUR ORIGINAL SEEBURG
3" X 1" JUKEBOX BLUE TITLE PLASTIC STRIPS (ONE IS SEPARATED FROM THE STRIP), AND ITS THREE ORIGINAL 17/8" X 17/8" MINI LP COVER PAPER INSERTS, ALL MANUFACTURED BY THE STAR TITLE STRIP CO.

CONDITION: M- / M (UNPLAYED)
