  DESCRIPTION
(ACTUAL SCANS)

FOLLOWING THEIR TRIUMPHANT DEBUT ON THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW ON FEBRUARY 9, 1964, THE BEATLES VERY FIRST CONCERT IN AMERICA TOOK PLACE ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 11, AT THE WASHINGTON COLISEUM. THE SHOW WAS A SELL-OUT AND ATTENDED BY 8,092 SCREAMING FANS WHO PAID EITHER $2.00, $3.00 OR $4.00 TO SEE THEIR HEROES.

SHORTLY BEFORE NOON ON THE 11TH, THE BEATLES, WINS RADIO DISC JOCKEY MURRAY THE K, AND SELECT MEMBERS OF THE PRESS ARRIVED AT MANHATTAN'S PENN STATION AND BOARDED AN OLD RICHMOND, FREDERICKSBURG AND POTOMAC RAILROAD SLEEPER CAR NAMED THE KING GEORGE HEADED FOR WASHINGTON, D.C. . THE TRAIN RIDE GAVE THE BEATLES AND THE PRESS ANOTHER CHANCE TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER. THE TRAIN PULLED INTO WASHINGTON'S UNION STATION AT 3:09 P.M. .

WHEN THE BEATLES CLIMBED ONTO THE STAGE JUST AFTER 8:30 P.M. AND EVEN BEFORE THEY PLAYED A NOTE, FANS BEGAN SCREAMING AND PHOTOGRAPHERS STARTED TAKING A BARRAGE OF PHOTOS. THE POPPING FLASHBULBS CUT THROUGH THE DARKNESS WITH THE INTENSITY OF A PYROTECHNIC SHOW. THE FIRST AMERICAN CROWD ALSO FOLLOWED THE BRITISH TRADITION OF THROWING JELLY BEANS ONTO THE STAGE. THE SCREAMING WAS SO LOUD AND HYSTERICALLY PERSISTENT THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE CONCERT - AND THEN - ABOUT 35 MINUTES AFTER THE BEATLES CLIMBED ONTO THE STAGE, IT WAS OVER. THE BEATLES, THE CROWD AND THE POLICE WERE EXHAUSTED.

FAB 4 COLLECTIBLES IS HONORED AND MOST PROUD TO OFFER ONE OF THE RAREST PIECES OF BEATLES CONCERT EPHEMERA - AN ORIGINAL, FULL, UNUSED CONCERT TICKET FROM THE INFAMOUS FIRST AMERICAN CONCERT AT THE WASHINGTON COLISEUM. WASHINGTON COLISEUM TICKETS RATE AS A VITAL AND IMPORTANT COLLECTIBLE AND CONTINUE TO BE IN HIGH DEMAND AMONG COLLECTORS. THE MAJORITY OF THESE TICKETS FROM THIS VENUE WERE DISCARDED OR LOST OVER THESE PAST 51 YEARS. WITH ONLY ONE SHOW PERFORMED BY THE BEATLES, AND 8,092 SCREAMING FANS IN ATTENDANCE, This was the Beatles first-ever concert in North America, and unused tickets for this show are among the most sought after of all Beatles tickets.

MEASURING 4" X 1˝", THE 'LIGHT GREEN' COLORED TICKET IS THE $2.00 "ARENA" SEATING LOCATION (SECTION '46', ROW 'A'. SEAT '7'), AND REMAINS IN BEAUTIFUL NEAR MINT MINUS CONDITION, DISPLAYING NO HANDLING WEAR AT ALL, WITH SHARP CORNERS. THERE ARE NO RIPS, CREASES, FOLDS OR STAINS. THE PIECE DISPLAYS VERY LEGIBLE, AND THE LETTERING PRINT REMAINS DARK AND BOLD, CLEAN AND CRISP. THE REVERSE BLANK SIDE GRADES VG+ DUE TO THE THREE AREAS OF AGED DRIED ADHESIVE MATERIAL, THAT WAS HAPHAZARDLY USED WHEN THE PIECE WAS PROFESSIONALLY FRAMED MANY YEARS AGO. THIS WAS DISCOVERED ONLY RECENTLY WHEN THE TICKET WAS CAREFULLY REMOVED FROM THE MATTE AND FRAME.

FOR THE ULTIMATE IN PRESERVATION, WE PRESENT THE TICKET IN A 5˝" X 3˝" CRYSTAL CLEAR ULTRA-PROŽ 1" THICK BEVELED LUCITE SCREW-DOWN HOLDER DISPLAY.

THE TICKET IS ACCOMPANIED BY A DETAILED LETTER OF PROVENANCE FROM THE ORIGINAL TICKET HOLDER OF THIS MONUMENTAL CONCERT, AND A LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY FROM FAB 4 COLLECTIBLES.
