DESCRIPTION (ACTUAL SCANS) FOLLOWING THEIR TRIUMPHANT DEBUT ON THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW ON FEBRUARY 9, 1964, THE BEATLES VERY FIRST CONCERT IN AMERICA TOOK PLACE ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 11, AT THE WASHINGTON COLISEUM. THE SHOW WAS A SELL-OUT AND ATTENDED BY 8,092 SCREAMING FANS WHO PAID EITHER $2.00, $3.00 OR $4.00 TO SEE THEIR HEROES. SHORTLY BEFORE NOON ON THE 11TH, THE BEATLES, WINS RADIO DISC JOCKEY MURRAY THE K, AND SELECT MEMBERS OF THE PRESS ARRIVED AT MANHATTAN'S PENN STATION AND BOARDED AN OLD RICHMOND, FREDERICKSBURG AND POTOMAC RAILROAD SLEEPER CAR NAMED THE KING GEORGE HEADED FOR WASHINGTON, D.C. . THE TRAIN RIDE GAVE THE BEATLES AND THE PRESS ANOTHER CHANCE TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER. THE TRAIN PULLED INTO WASHINGTON'S UNION STATION AT 3:09 P.M. . WHEN THE BEATLES CLIMBED ONTO THE STAGE JUST AFTER 8:30 P.M. AND EVEN BEFORE THEY PLAYED A NOTE, FANS BEGAN SCREAMING AND PHOTOGRAPHERS STARTED TAKING A BARRAGE OF PHOTOS. THE POPPING FLASHBULBS CUT THROUGH THE DARKNESS WITH THE INTENSITY OF A PYROTECHNIC SHOW. THE FIRST AMERICAN CROWD ALSO FOLLOWED THE BRITISH TRADITION OF THROWING JELLY BEANS ONTO THE STAGE. THE SCREAMING WAS SO LOUD AND HYSTERICALLY PERSISTENT THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE CONCERT - AND THEN - ABOUT 35 MINUTES AFTER THE BEATLES CLIMBED ONTO THE STAGE, IT WAS OVER. THE BEATLES, THE CROWD AND THE POLICE WERE EXHAUSTED. FAB 4 COLLECTIBLES PROUDLY OFFERS ONE OF THE RAREST PIECES OF BEATLES CONCERT EPHEMERA AND ONE THAT RARELY SURFACES TODAY. HERE ARE TWO ORIGINAL CONCERT TICKET STUBS FROM THE INFAMOUS FIRST AMERICAN CONCERT AT THE WASHINGTON COLISEUM. FURTHERMORE, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT WE HAVE KNOWN TWO TICKET STUBS WITH CONSECUTIVE SEATING NUMBERS TO HAVE EVER SURFACED AS A PAIR. THESE TICKETS, EITHER IN FULL UNUSED CONDITION (VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND), OR STUBS, ARE AMONG THE RAREST OF ALL BEATLES CONCERT TICKETS IN EXISTENCE. WASHINGTON COLISEUM TICKETS RATE AS A VITAL AND IMPORTANT COLLECTIBLE AND CONTINUE TO BE IN HIGH DEMAND AMONG COLLECTORS. THE MAJORITY OF THESE TICKETS FROM THIS VENUE WERE DISCARDED OR LOST OVER THESE PAST 51 YEARS. WITH EACH STUB MEASURING APPROXIMATELY 2¾" X 1½", THE 'LIGHT GREEN' COLORED TICKET STUBS ARE THE $2.00 "ARENA" SEATING LOCATION AND ARE IN CONSECUTIVE SEATING NUMBERS (SECTION '51', ROW 'F'. SEATS '3 & 4'). THE PAIR ARE IN BEAUTIFUL NEAR MINT CONDITION, DISPLAYING NO HANDLING WEAR AT ALL, WITH SHARP CORNERS. DESPITE THE AGE OF THE VALIDATED TORN TICKET STUB, THERE ARE NO OTHER RIPS, STAINS OR FOLDS. THE PIECE STILL DISPLAYS VERY LEGIBLE, AND THE LETTERING PRINT REMAINS DARK AND BOLD, CLEAN AND CRISP. THE REVERSE BLANK SIDE IS FLAWLESS AND ONE CAN SEE THE IMPRESSION OF THE INK STAMPING FROM THE FRONT SIDE QUITE CLEARLY. FOR THE ULTIMATE IN PRESERVATION, WE PRESENT THE TICKET STUBS IN A 5½" X 3½" CRYSTAL CLEAR ULTRA-PRO® 1" THICK BEVELED LUCITE SCREW-DOWN HOLDER DISPLAY. THE TICKET STUBS ARE ACCOMPANIED BY
A DETAILED LETTER OF PROVENANCE FROM THE ORIGINAL TICKET HOLDER AND ATTENDEE OF
