  DESCRIPTION
FAB 4 COLLECTIBLES IS VERY PROUD TO OFFER WHAT CLEARLY HAS BECOME ONE OF THE RAREST VERSIONS OF THE FAMED "BUTCHER COVER". IT IS THE EXCEEDINGLY RARE DESIGNATE PROMOTIONAL ISSUE WHICH HAS THE PRINT "PROMOTIONAL - NOT FOR SALE" STAMPED BY CAPITOL DIRECTLY ONTO THE COVER.

PROMOTIONAL COPIES OF ALBUMS WERE ALWAYS SENT TO REVIEWERS OR GIVEN TO CAPITOL RECORDS SALES REPS FOR DISTRIBUTION TO RADIO STATIONS. YET, WHAT MAKES THIS PROMOTIONAL BUTCHER COVER SO SPECIAL IS IT HAS ONLY RECENTLY BEEN CONFIRMED THAT A "STAMPED" VERSION WAS EVER ISSUED.... AND THIS COPY OFFERED HERE IS ONE OF ONLY TWO KNOWN EXAMPLES OF THIS ALBUM VERIFIED TO EXIST.

THE FIRST STAMPED ALBUM THAT SURFACED WAS OFFICIALLY LISTED AND PUBLISHED IN THE 2007 EDITION OF AUTHOR PERRY COX'S THE PRICE GUIDE FOR THE BEATLES AMERICAN RECORDS. THE LISTING ON PAGE 157 STATES : "UNMARKED PROMOTIONAL COPIES WERE DISTRIBUTED BY CAPITOL SALES REPS TO DISC JOCKEYS AND REVIEWERS. SOME COVERS (MPC1), HAVE A BLACK STAMP ACROSS THE FRONT STATING "PROMOTIONAL-NOT FOR SALE"

THIS EXAMPLE IS STAMPED ONCE ON THE FRONT AND TWICE ON THE BACK.

GRADED IN VG TO VG- CONDITION, THERE IS OVERALL WEAR AND AGING, WITH A 7" SEAM SPLIT IN THE CENTER OF THE TITLE SPINE AND A 2½" SPLIT AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER. YET, THE BUTCHER SLICK BEING THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT, PRESENTS VERY BEAUTIFULLY WITH DEEP COLORS AND NO EXTREME WEAR TO SPEAK OF. THERE ARE TWO ROUND BLUE BALLPOINT PEN CIRCLES JUST BENEATH THE PROMOTIONAL STAMP.

THE BACK COVER HAS SOME AGE MELLOWING TO THE WHITE EDGES AND SOME LIGHT STAINING. THERE IS BLACK INK SMEARED ACROSS THE TOP AREA, PRESUMABLY FROM THE FACTORY, FOR IT MATCHES THE COLOR OF THE INK OF THE PROMOTIONAL STAMP. THERE IS SOME PAPER LOSS ASIDE THE FACTORY NUMBER NEAR THE BOTTOM RIGHT.

THE ORIGINAL AND MATCHING EAST COAST SCRANTON RECORD ACCOMPANIES THE COVER, AND GRADES A STUNNING NEAR MINT MINUS VINYL WITH NEAR MINT LABELS. ITS ORIGINAL 1966 CAPITOL RECORDS ORANGE INNER SLEEVE IS THERE TOO.

ALSO INCLUDED IS A LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY FROM PERRY COX RENOWNED AND RESPECTED BEATLES EXPERT AND AUTHOR OF THE PRICE GUIDE FOR THE BEATLES AMERICAN RECORDS, 6TH EDITION, 2007.

AS AN ADDED ATTRACTION, A COPY OF THE CAPITOL RECORDS ORIGINAL "RECALL LETTER" THAT WENT OUT TO ALL DISTRIBUTORS & PROMOTERS ON JUNE 14, 1966 - IS ALSO INCLUDED.
