DESCRIPTION (ACTUAL SCANS) THE BEATLES DIDN'T PERFORM A SINGLE SONG FROM THEIR LATEST LP "REVOLVER" AT ANY TIME DURING THEIR 1966 TOUR. IT WAS ALMOST AS IF TWO ENTIRELY SEPARATE PERSONALITIES HAD EVOLVED - THE BEATLES AS RECORDING ARTISTS AND THE BEATLES AS CONCERT PERFORMERS. HYSTERICAL FANS SCREAMED AND SOBBED AND DEMANDED 'SHE LOVES YOU, YEAH YEAH YEAH", WHICH TO THE BEATLES IN 1966 WAS A LITTLE MORE THAN A CHILDREN'S NURSERY RHYME. FOR THEM, NOW WAS THE TIME FOR "ELEANOR RIGBY", "TAXMAN" AND "TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS". AMID THE NEVER-ENDING BEATLEMANIA, THE BEATLES CAME TO AUGUST 29, 1966 AND THEIR LAST SHOW. ON A BRACING SAN FRANCISCO NIGHT, THE WIND WHIPPING IN OFF THE PACIFIC, THE BEATLES STOOD AT SECOND BASE IN THE AIRY OPEN SPACES OF CANDLESTICK PARK, ON A STAGE ELEVATED FIVE FOOT ABOVE THE GROUND. THEY WERE FULLY ENCASED BY A SIX FOOT HIGH WIRE FENCE, AROUND WHICH GATHERED PRIVATE AND CITY POLICEMEN. AN ARMORED TRUCK STOOD BY, ITS ENGINE RUNNING. THE GROUP PLAYED FROM 9:27 PM UNTIL PRECISELY 10:00 PM WHEN, AFTER CLOSING WITH "LONG TALL SALLY", THEY STEPPED OFF THE STAGE FOR EVER. AFTER NINE YEARS AND MORE THAN 1,400 LIVE PERFORMANCES - THE BEATLES HAD GIVEN THEIR FINAL SHOW. PRESENTED HERE IS A FULL, UNUSED, NEAR MINT TICKET TO THAT MOST FAMOUS BEATLES CONCERT. THIS SEATING LOCATION IS MUCH RARER THAN THE LOWER STAND ADMISSION PURPLE VARIATION AND ARE FOUND IN FAR LESS NUMBERS. IT IS THE GREEN LOCATION UPPER STAND RESERVED GATE D, SECTION 24, ROW 17, SEAT 20 THE SMALL BLACK SPOTS EVIDENT ON THE BACK OF THE TICKET ARE SIMPLY THE DEEP INK IMPRESSIONS FROM THE PRINTED SIDE. THIS PRISTINE NEAR MINT HUGE TICKET MEASURES 5 3/4" X 2 1/2" AND IS THE ULTIMATE TICKET FOR THIS TRULY HISTORICAL FINAL VENUE. |
