DESCRIPTION (ACTUAL SCANS) THE BEATLES STAGED THEIR SECOND CONCERT TOUR OF THE UNITED STATES, WITH ONE DATE IN CANADA, IN THE LATE SUMMER OF 1965. AT THE PEAK OF AMERICAN "BEATLEMANIA", THEY PLAYED A MIXTURE OF OUTDOOR STADIUMS AND INDOOR ARENAS, WITH TWO HISTORIC STOPS ON THIS VENTURE. THE FIRST OF COURSE, WAS THE MONUMENTAL CONCERT AT NEW YORK'S SHEA STADIUM ON AUGUST 15TH. THE SECOND VENUE BEING TWO TRIUMPHANT SELL-OUT SHOWS AT THE PRESTIGIOUS HOLLYWOOD BOWL IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, ON AUGUST 29TH AND 30TH. THE BEATLES EARNED $90,000 FROM THE TOTAL TAKE OF $156,000 FOR THE TWO CONCERTS AT THE BOWL. THIS TIME AROUND IN 1965, THE BEATLES PERFORMED THEIR STANDARD SET OF 12 SONGS AT THE CONCERTS : THE SHORTER VERSION OF "TWIST AND SHOUT", FOLLOWED BY "SHE'S A WOMAN", "I FEEL FINE", "DIZZY MISS LIZZIE", "TICKET TO RIDE", "EVERYBODY'S TRYING TO BE MY BABY", "CAN'T BUY ME LOVE", "BABY'S IN BLACK", "I WANNA BE YOUR MAN", "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT", "HELP!" AND CLOSING WITH "I'M DOWN". THE OTHER ACTS ON THE BILL WERE, IN ORDER OF APPEARANCE WERE KING CURTIS BAND, SOUNDS INCORPORATED AND THE DISCOTHEQUE DANCERS, BRENDA HOLLOWAY, AND CANNIBAL & THE HEADHUNTERS. OFFERED HERE IS AN ABSOLUTE, PRISTINE NEAR MINT FULL, UNUSED TICKET FROM THE FIRST SHOW AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL, SUNDAY AUGUST 29TH AND SEEN BY AN AUDIENCE OF 18,000. THE 3˝" X 1˝" TICKET IS THE "ORANGE" RESERVED $4.00 SEAT VARIATION, SECTION U, ROW 4, SEAT 109. ONLY A HANDFUL OF 1965 HOLLYWOOD BOWL COMPLETE TICKETS EXIST TODAY IN COLLECTORS' HANDS. THESE TICKETS ARE NEAR THE TOP OF THE LIST IN HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE AND VALUE - AND THIS EXAMPLE IS IMPECCABLE. IT IS INDEED ONE OF THE RAREST CONCERT TICKET VENUES TO FIND IN IT'S FULL UNUSED STATE. ALSO INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE IS THE ACCOMPANYING 4˝" X 2" ORIGINAL "UNION 76" TICKET ENVELOPE. ALSO INCLUDED IS THE RARELY SEEN 2˝" X 4˝" ORIGINAL HOLLYWOOD BOWL PARKING LOT TICKET STUB. THIS IS TRULY A WONDERFUL COMPLETE PACKAGE THAT REFLECTS THIS HISTORICAL NIGHT AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL. AS WITH THE 1964 BEATLES' CONCERT AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL, THE TWO AUGUST 1965 PERFORMANCES WERE RECORDED BY CAPITOL RECORDS, ALTHOUGH PAUL'S INTRODUCTIONS AND VOCALS FOR THE FIRST FOUR SONGS WEREN'T AUDIBLE DUE TO TECHNICAL PROBLEMS. THREE SONGS FROM THE 29TH - "TICKET TO RIDE", "DIZZY MISS LIZZY" AND "HELP!" WERE INCLUDED ON THE 1977 ALBUM "THE BEATLES AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL". "DIZZY MISS LIZZY" WAS A COMPOSITE EDIT OF THE 29TH AND 30TH PERFORMANCES. JOHN'S SPOKEN INTRODUCTION TO "BABY'S IN BLACK" WAS ALSO INCLUDED ON "THE BEATLES ANTHOLOGY" RELATED 1996 SINGLE "REAL LOVE", ALONG WITH THE FULL VERSION FROM THE AUGUST 30TH PERFORMANCE. THERE WERE TWO OTHER NOTABLE OCCURRENCES DURING THE BEATLES' VISIT TO LOS ANGELES IN 1965 THAT TOOK PLACE PRIOR TO THE CONCERTS. IN THE AFTERNOON ON AUGUST 29TH, THEY GAVE A PRESS CONFERENCE AT THE CAPITOL RECORDS TOWER AT HOLLYWOOD AND VINE, WHERE ALAN LIVINGSTON, PRESIDENT OF CAPITOL RECORDS, PRESENTED THE LADS WITH GOLD DISCS FOR SALES OF "HELP!". THE SECOND OCCURRENCE TOOK PLACE TWO DAYS PRIOR. ON FRIDAY AUGUST 27TH, THE BEATLES' FIFTH DAY OFF DURING A BREAK IN THEIR 1965 TOUR OF NORTH AMERICA, THE MEETING OF TWO GREAT MUSICAL ACTS OF THE 20TH CENTURY TOOK PLACE : THE BEATLES AND ELVIS PRESLEY. IT WAS IN BEL AIR AT PRESLEY'S MANSION AT 565 PERUGIA WAY, WHERE THE MEETING HAD BEEN ARRANGED BY PRESLEY'S MANAGER 'COLONEL' TOM PARKER, AND WAS HIGHLY ANTICIPATED BY THE BEATLES AND BRIAN EPSTEIN. AS THEY ARRIVED AT 11PM, PRESLEY TOOK THE BEATLES INTO THE ENORMOUS LIVING ROOM, WHILE EPSTEIN AND PARKER STOOD ASIDE TO WATCH THE MEETING. FOR THE ULTIMATE IN PRESENTATION AND PRESERVATION, WE HAVE SLID THESE MARVELOUS AND HISTORIC 1965 HOLLYWOOD BOWL CONCERT ARTIFACTS FREELY INTO AN ACID-FREE 4 MIL THICK MYLAR 45RPM 7 1/2" X 7 3/4" RECORD SLEEVE, WHICH WAS THEN SECURED INTO AN CRYSTAL CLEAR ULTRA-PROŽ 1/2" THICK LUCITE 8" X 10" SCREWDOWN BEVELED FRAME.
