  DESCRIPTION
VEE-JAY PREPARED NEW COVERS FOR THE REVAMPED VERSION TWO ALBUM, WHICH IS SOMETIMES REFERRED TO AS THE "PLEASE PLEASE ME VERSION" OR THE "ASK ME WHY  VERSION". THE FRONT COVER OF THE ALBUM IS THE SAME AS THE VERSION ONE COVER WITHOUT "PRINTED IN THE U.S.A.". THE BACK COVER IS IDENTICAL TO THE TITLES ON BACK VARIATION OF VERSION ONE, EXCEPT FOR THE SUBSTITUTION OF THE TITLES OF THE TWO SONGS THAT REPLACED "LOVE ME DO" AND "P.S. I LOVE YOU".

FAB COLLECTIBLES IS PLEASED TO OFFER THE MOST INTERESTING, RAREST AND MOST SOUGHT AFTER VARIATION TO THE MONO VERSION TWO COVER, NAMED THE "PASTE OVER". AFTER THE DECISION WAS MADE TO REISSUE THE ALBUM WITH THE TWO DIFFERENT SONGS, VEE-JAY STILL HAD A SUPPLY OF MONO VERSION ONE COVERS LEFT OVER. RATHER THAN DESTROY THESE COVERS, VEE-JAY HAD VERSION TWO "PLEASE PLEASE ME" BACK COVER SLICKS PASTED OVER THE VERSION ONE BACK COVER SLICKS.

ONE CAN CLEARLY SEE THE VERSION ONE SONG TITLES BENEATH THE PASTED OVER REVISED SLICK, IN PARTICULAR "LOVE ME DO" AND "P.S. I LOVE YOU" BLEEDING THROUGH THE TWO REPLACEMENT TITLES "ASK ME WHY" AND "PLEASE PLEASE ME".  INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, CAPITOL RECORDS USED THIS SAME TECHNIQUE TWO AND A HALF YEARS LATER WHEN IT HAD THE REPLACEMENT YESTERDAY AND TODAY  TRUNK COVER SLICK PASTED OVER THE INFAMOUS BUTCHER COVER.

FURTHERMORE, THIS EXAMPLE HAS YET ANOTHER RARE HIGHLIGHT. THE SLICK THAT HAS BEEN PASTED OVER IS INDEED THE VERY FIRST SLICK PRINTED THAT FEATURES THE REPLACEMENT SONG "PLEASE PLEASE ME" WITHOUT THE COMMA FOLLOWING THE FIRST "PLEASE". THESE FIRST BACK COVERS WITHOUT THE COMMA ARE VERY FEW AND FAR BETWEEN TO FIND, MAKING THIS DOUBLE-ATTRACTION COVER QUITE A VERSION TWO TREASURE.

THE CONDITION OF THIS RARE COVER IS A SOLID, BRIGHT AND CLEAN VG+++, WITH SOME VERY LIGHT WEAR AND AN ORIGINAL $3.19 PRICE STICKER ON THE BACK COVER IN THE UPPER LEFT CORNER. THE COVER REMAINS SOLID THROUGHOUT. AND THE SEAMS ARE FIRM WITH SOME VERY MINOR TIP WEAR. THE SPINE IS MERE PERFECTION WITH THE PRINT VISIBLE AND LEGIBLE THROUGHOUT. THE BACK COLUMNS AND SONG TITLES PRINT ARE ALL DARK, BOLD AND PRESENT. THE DISC IS A SHIMMERING NEAR MINT WITH NEAR MINT LABELS (VJ1062(2).MR2D(II),SPIZER), COLORBAND & BRACKETS, "LONG PLAYING" ON LABEL IS IN TWO WORDS, AND WAS PRESSED BY ALLENTOWN RECORD COMPANY (ARC).

HERE IS ONE OF THE TRULY RARE VEE-JAY BEATLES ALBUMS AND ONLY THE SECOND OF THE VERY FEW EVER "PASTE OVER" BACK COVERS WE HAVE EVER OFFERED OVER THE YEARS.
