"STEREOPHONIC" BANNER WITH "TITLES ON BACK" COVER

  INTRODUCING THE BEATLES
VJLP SR1062 STEREO
RELEASED: 2/10/64
VERSION 2

HERE IS A SIMPLY GORGEOUS EXAMPLE OF THE RARER VERSION 2 STEREO PRESSING. THE VERSION TWO STANDARD STEREO COVER HAS A WHITE TOP BANNER WITH 'STEREOPHONIC" CENTERED IN GREY AND THE NUMBER
'SR 1062' IN BLACK IN THE UPPER RIGHT CORNER. THESE STEREO COVERS HAVE THE TITLE "PLEASE, PLEASE ME" WITH THE COMMA ON THE BACK COVER.

This Cover GRADES a STUNNING NEAR MINT MINUS, SHOWING
NO ring-wear, NO dirt AND NO splits. The front Cover image is
absolutely vibrant and bold.

Only wear evident is some very minor AND LIGHT shelf wear along the bottom edge, yet it remains solid all the way across. THERE IS A SMALL AREA OF WEAR ON THE TOP EDGE NEAR THE LEFT SIDE. ALL FOUR CORNERS HAVE SOME TIP WEAR. THIS IS THE EXTENT OF FLAWS. The Back cover is clean throughout and the tone of the white background is bright. The Spine is rock solid and legible throughout.

THE ACCOMPANYING RECORD (VJ 1062(2).SR2B(ii)(b), SPIZER) WAS PRESSED BY MONARCH AND HAS THE HAND ETCHED INITIALS "urj" ON BOTH SIDES AND MATRIX NUMBER 'S 63-3402-S' AND JOB NUMBER '6313' ON SIDE 1, AND THE MATRIX NUMBER 'S 63-3403-S' AND JOB NUMBER '6313X' ON SIDE 2. THE LABELS ARE THE BRACKETS LOGO VARIATION. THE SONG TITLES ARE LEFT JUSTIFIED, AND DO NOT HAVE  THE "MICROGROOVE" AND "LONG PLAYING" PRINT. "STEREO" IS AT THE 3 O'CLOCK POSITION, AND HAS "SIDE 1" AND "SIDE 2" ALL IN UPPER CASE IN SMALL PRINT.

THE CONDITION OF THIS RECORD IS AN OUTSTANDING NEAR MINT WITH DEEP, HIGH-GLOSS, GLEAMING GROOVES AND ONLY SIGN OF WEAR ARE JUST A FEW INNER SLEEVE "WHISPS". THE LABELS GRADE A WONDERFUL NEAR MINT AS WELL, WITH SOME VERY LIGHT SPINDLE HOLE WEAR THAT DOES NOT REALLY DETRACT.

INCLUDES THE ORIGINAL GENERIC WHITE VEE-JAY SMALL HOLE INNER SLEEVE, WHICH REMAINED INSERTED IN THE COVER.

QUALITY High end "INTRODUCING THE BEATLES" albums are true gems and are significant Collectibles - PARTICULARLY for the less common STEREO pressings. THE RELATIVE SCARCITY OF STEREO COPIES IS NOT SURPRISING, FOR ONLY 3.1% OF THE ALBUMS SOLD WERE STEREO.

VERSION 2

FIRST ISSUE VERSION TWO COVER.
RARE "PASTE OVER" BACK COVER & "PLEASE PLEASE ME" WITHOUT COMMA.

THE MOST INTERESTING, RAREST AND SOUGHT AFTER VARIATION TO THE MONO VERSION TWO COVER. AFTER THE DECISION WAS MADE TO REISSUE THE ALBUM WITH THE TWO DIFFERENT SONGS, VEE-JAY STILL HAD A SUPPLY OF MONO VERSION ONE COVERS LEFT OVER. RATHER THAN DESTROY THESE COVERS, VEE-JAY HAD VERSION TWO "PLEASE PLEASE ME" BACK COVER SLICKS PASTED OVER THE VERSION ONE BACK COVER SLICKS.

CLICK ON THE TWO IMAGES OF THE BACK COVER CLOSE-UP SCANS TO VIEW LARGER IMAGES THAT DISPLAY THE DETAIL OF THE SONG TITLES VISIBLE BENEATH THE TOP PASTE-OVER SLICK. IN PARTICULAR, THE TWO REPLACEMENT SONGS "ASK ME WHY" AND "PLEASE PLEASE ME". THE ORIGINAL TRACKS "LOVE ME DO" AND "P.S. I LOVE YOU" ARE SEEN QUITE CLEARLY.

YET ANOTHER RARE HIGHLIGHT ... THE SLICK THAT HAS BEEN PASTED OVER IS INDEED THE VERY FIRST SLICK PRINTED THAT FEATURES THE REPLACEMENT SONG "PLEASE PLEASE ME" WITHOUT THE COMMA.

THE ACCOMPANYING MONO RECORD IS THE COLORBAND AND BRACKETS LABEL VARIATION, (VJ1062(2).MR2D(ii), SPIZER). IT HAS LEFT JUSTIFIED SONG TITLES AND INDENTED CREDITS WITH "INTRODUCING the BEATLES" (THE WORD "THE" IN LOWER CASE), "MICROGROOVE" AND "LONG PLAYING" SEPARATED INTO TWO WORDS. THE TRAIL-OFF AREAS TO THIS RECORD HAVE HAND ETCHED MATRIX NUMBERS AND THE INITIALS "URJ" AND "ARC" ALONG WITH THE MACHINE STAMPED AUDIO MATRIX LOGO. IT ALSO HAS THE HAND ETCHED DATE 2-11-64. THIS RECORD WAS PRESSED BY ARC.

THIS RARE DOUBLE-ATTRACTION COVER IS QUITE A VERSION TWO TREASURE.

VERSION 2

COVER REMAINS IN ORIGINAL SHRINKWRAP,
ACCOMPANIED BY RARER 45 SIZE LABEL VARIATION

VEE-JAY'S HABIT OF USING WHATEVER LABEL BACKDROPS WERE AVAILABLE LED TO A STRANGE VARIATION OF THIS RECORD. AS WAS THE CASE WITH VERSION ONE OF THIS ALBUM, SOME RECORDS WERE PRESSED WITH 45-SIZE LABELS - WHICH HAVE CENTERED SONG TITLES AND CREDITS, INCLUDING THE "COFFIN-KING" TYPO (SHOULD READ "GOFFIN-KING"), WITH "MICROGROOVE" AND "LONGPLAYING". HOWEVER, IT IS PRINTED ON A BLACK LABEL WITH AN OUTER RIM COLORBAND FEATURING A SMALL BRACKETS LOGO ON A 45-SIZE LABEL. THIS RECORD WAS MANUFACTURED BY ARP. (VJ1062(2).MR3, SPIZER). THE CONDITION OF THIS EXAMPLE IS A HIGH GLOSS, CLEAN NEAR MINT MINUS BORDERING VG++ WITH DEEP BEAUTIFUL GROOVES.

AS EVIDENT IN THE SCAN OF THE LABEL, THE SIDE 1 LABEL HAS VEEJAY'S TYPICAL PRODUCTION FLAW (ALSO SEEN ON MANY OF THEIR 45 SINGLES) WHERE A SMALL AREA OF VINYL ON THE CIRCULAR RIM HAS AN UNEVEN LEVEL, THEREFORE THE APPLIED LABEL HAS AN UNEVEN APPEARANCE

THE RECORD'S ACCOMPANYING VERSION 2 COVER IS A NEAR MINT TRUE GEM INDEED, REMAINING IN ITS ORIGINAL SHRINKWRAP AND PRESENTS ITSELF MAGNIFICENTLY.

THE ONLY MINOR FLAW IS A MISSING 5 1/2" PIECE OF TORN SHRINK ON THE FRONT COVER ONLY IN THE UPPER RIGHT AREA. YET, THAT AREA OF THE COVER IS UNAFFECTED BY THIS, AND THE ONLY SIGN OF HANDLING WEAR IS A MILLIMETER TOUCH ON THE TOP EDGE NEAR THE RIGHT EDGE. THERE IS ALSO A 3" SHRINK SPLIT ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT EDGE, YET SHRINK REMAINS COMPLETELY INTACT IN THAT AREA. THAT IS THE EXTENT OF ANY IMPERFECTIONS ON THIS COVER. THE GRAPHICS AND ITS BOLD COLORS ARE SPARKLING ON THE COVER.

THE BACK COVER IS IMPECCABLE, GLOSSY, CLEAN AND WHITE WITH NO WEAR ANYWHERE.

THE SPINE IS PHENOMENAL - SOLID AND LEGIBLE FROM END TO END.

VERSION 2

HERE WE OFFER A MOST STUPENDOUS EXAMPLE OF A VERSION TWO SET. THE COVER APPEARS "AS NEW" - JUST AN ABSOLUTE BEAUTY FROM CORNER TO CORNER. THE GRAPHICS AND IMAGES ARE BRILLIANT AND BOLD. NO RINGWEAR, NO SPLITS.

THE ONLY MINOR ASPECT FROM PREVENTING THIS COVER TO BE GRADED AT A MINT MINUS IS A SMALL AREA OF A LIGHT AGE STAIN ON THE BACK COVER NEAR THE MIDDLE OF RIGHT SIDE EDGE. THAT IS THE EXTENT OF ANY FLAWS ON THIS BRILLIANT EXAMPLE.

THE SPINE IS SOLID, CRISP AND LEGIBLE ALL THE WAY ACROSS.

THE ACCOMPANYING MONO RECORD IS THE COLORBAND AND OVAL LABEL VARIATION, VJ1062(2).MR1B, SPIZER.

IT HAS SMALL PRINT THROUGHOUT WITH LEFT JUSTIFIED TITLES AND CREDITS. THE WORDS "LONG PLAYING" AND "MICROGROOVE" DO NOT APPEAR ON THE LABEL. THIS VARIATION HAS "URJ" AND THE MATRIX NUMBERS 63-3402 AND 63-3403 HAND ETCHED ON BOTH SIDES. THESE CHARACTERISTICS ARE SIMILAR TO ALBUMS PRESSED BY COLUMBIA RECORDS IN BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT.

  INTRODUCING THE BEATLES
VJLP 1062 MONO
RELEASED: 2/10/64
VERSION 2

BY FAR THE RAREST LABEL VARIATION OF ANY "INTRODUCING THE BEATLES" MONO RECORD IS THE ALL BLACK LABEL WITH SILVER PRINT FEATURING THE SMALL BRACKETS LOGO (VJ1062(2).MR6, SPIZER).

THIS DISC HAS THE SAME TYPESETTING AS VJ1062(2).MR1A AND MR2C, HAVING LEFT JUSTIFIED SONG TITLES AND CREDITS, INCLUDING THE "COFFIN-KING" TYPO (SHOULD READ "GOFFIN-KING"), WITH "INTRODUCING THE BEATLES", "MICROGROOVE" AND "LONG PLAYING" ON THE LABEL. THIS RECORD WAS MANUFACTURED BY SOUTHERN PLASTICS.

WHEN THIS VARIATION DOES SURFACE, THEY ARE USUALLY FOUND IN HORRENDOUS CONDITION, ALWAYS SHOWING MUCH WEAR AND TEARING AROUND THE SPINDLE HOLE DUE TO THE DARK BLACK PAPER LABELS. THIS EXAMPLE IS A BEAUTIFUL NEAR MINT MINUS ON BOTH THE VINYL AND LABELS, WITH VERY LIGHT AND MINIMAL SPINDLE MARKS AROUND THE HOLE THAT DO NOT DETRACT AT ALL TO DIMINISH THE CONDITION. THERE IS NO TEARING TO THE HOLE WHATSOEVER.

THE ACCOMPANYING COVER ALSO GRADES A WONDERFUL NEAR MINT MINUS, WITH NO RINGWEAR, NO SEAM SPLITS. ONLY WEAR EVIDENT IS THE USUAL CORNER WEAR ON ALL FOUR TIPS. THE COLORS AND GRAPHICS REMAIN BOLD, BRIGHT AND CRISP.

THE SPINE IS NEARLY PERFECT : SOLID, CENTERED AND COMPLETELY LEGIBLE.

THE BACK COVER DISPLAYS VERY NICELY WITH LIGHT HANDLING, AND A COUPLE OF AGING SPOTS. THIS COVER IS THE VEE-JAY VARIATION THAT HAS THE NUMBER "2" PRINTED TO THE RIGHT OF THE WORD "RECORDS" IN THE ALBUM'S LOWER RIGHT CORNER.

THIS EXAMPLE OF THE RAREST "INTRODUCING THE BEATLES" MONO LABEL VARIATION, WOULD BE AN IMPERATIVE ADDITION FOR THE "COMPLETIST" BEATLES RECORD COLLECTOR. IN ADDITION, THE ORIGINAL VEE-JAY "AD BACK" INNER SLEEVE IS ALSO THERE IN THIS SET.
