BOTH SIGNED JANUARY 20, 1964, PARIS, FRANCE, FOLLOWING THE GROUP'S INTERVIEW FOR 'EUROPE NO. 1' RADIO BROADCAST.

On January 14, 1964, after the final ten nights of "the beatles christmas show" and a return spot on the live atv show val parnell's sunday night at the palladium, the beatles set out for paris and a marathon season at the Olympia theatre. the audience at the opening show at the Olympia on the 16th mostly comprised the paris society set, in full evening regalia, and there was clearly little mutual affection between them and the four liverpudlians. the beatles received a cool reception and, as this was also the show attended by the representatives of the french press, the reviews were similarly frosty.

from january 16th through february 4th, It was 18 days of two, sometimes three (such as on 19th), shows each, on a nine-act bill. at no time was it made clear who was headliner: the beatles, french chanteuse sylvie vartan, or trini lopez, the u.s. singer famous for 'if i had a hammer', although it was the beatles who closed each performance with a repertoire comprising of 'from me to you', 'roll over beethoven', 'she loves you', 'this boy', 'boys', 'i want to hold your hand', 'twist and shout', and 'long tall sally'.

although somewhat slighted by this unexpected hiatus in their overwhelming climb to success, the beatles acTUAlly cOuldn't much care about the reaction by the french. for upon returning to their suite at the george v hotel they received a telegram carrying advance news of the following week's singles chart in cashbox magazine: 'i want to hold your hand' had jumped from 43 straight to number one IN AMERICA!  and all this was happening just days before the beatles'  visit to new york on february 7th, set up three months previously, to appear on nationwide televisIon via the ed sullivan show. the coincidence - for it was nothing more - was truly fantastic. ON FEBRUARY 3RD, SHORTLY BEFORE THE END OF AN UNEVENTFUL THREE WEEKS AT THE OLYMPIA, THE BEATLES VISITED THE AMERICAN EMBASSY IN PARIS AND OBTAINED VISAS AND PERMITS NECESSARY TO VISIT AND WORK IN THE UNITED STATES.

PROUDLY PRESENTED HERE IS A 6˝" X 8˝" NEMPIX PROMOTIONAL PHOTOGRAPH, AUTOGRAPHED ON REVERSE BY THE BEATLES. PHOTOGRAPHED by LEGENDARY BEATLES PHOTOGRAPHER Dezo HoffmanN, THIS IS THE LEGENDARY COLLARLESS SUITS "SITTING POSE" FROM THE INFAMOUS JULY 1963 PHOTO SESSION, WITH THIS PARTICULAR SHOT BEING "NEMPOSE PHOTO # 1". THE PHOTOGRAPH WAS AUTOGRAPHED ON MONDAY, JANUARY 20, 1964 DURING THE GROUP'S PARIS VISIT, FOLLOWING AN INTERVIEW ON THE RADIO PROGRAM 'SALUT LES COPAINS', BROADCAST FOR 'EUROPE 1' RADIO.

THE SIGNATURES ON THE BACK OF THIS PHOTO ARE ABSOLUTELY REMARKABLE, WITH JOHN, GEORGE AND RINGO SIGNING IN BLUE BALLPOINT PEN, WHILE PAUL IS IN BLACK FELT TIP MARKER, and has written "love" above his signature. EACH HAVE ADDED "XXX" FOLLOWING THEIR SIGNATURES.

AT THE TOP, john has added “love” before signing. please take note that his original inscription “To Elisabeth” has  been expertly removed by a highly skilled paper restoration specialist, WHICH HAS GREATLY IMPROVED THE OVERALL PRESENTATION OF THESE MAGNIFICENT AUTOGRAPHS.

THE HANDWRITING IN LIGHT PENCIL THAT CAN BE SEEN AT THE VERY TOP OF EDGE OF THE AUTOGRAPHED SIDE, WAS WRITTEN BY THE ORIGINAL RECIPIENT OF THE AUTOGRAPHS (WHOSE LETTER OF PROVENANCE IS INCLUDED AND DISPLAYED BELOW). FOR PROSPERITY, SHE SCRIBED AT THAT VERY TIME:

"PARIS, 20 JANUARY 1964  EUROPE NO. 1".

ALSO INCLUDED IS ANOTHER 6˝" X 8˝" NEMPIX DEZO HOFFMANN PROMOTIONAL PHOTOGRAPH, THIS ONE BEING A SOLO HEADSHOT OF PAUL McCARTNEY, AUTOGRAPHED ON HIS IMAGE BY PAUL AT THE VERY SAME TIME, AND AGAIN IN BLACK FELT TIP MARKER. THE  HANDWRITING OF THE RECIPIENT CAN BE SEEN AGAIN IN LIGHT PENCIL AT THE VERY TOP OF EDGE ON THE BACK, SCRIBING AT THAT TIME ONCE AGAIN FOR PROSPERITY:

"EUROPE NO. 1 PARIS  MONDAY 20 JANUARY 20 1964".
AND BELOW THAT, SHE WRITES IN THE DATE SHE SAW THE BEATLES PERFORM:
"VISITED THE OLYMPIA   SATURDAY 18 JANUARY 1964".

THE PHOTO HAS A SMALL 2" HORIZONTAL TEAR NEAR PAUL'S EAR COMING IN FROM THE RIGHT EDGE, AND SCOTCH TAPED ON THE BACK THOSE MANY YEARS AGO. IT DOES NOT INTERFERE WITH THE AUTOGRAPH IN ANY MANNER.

BOTH PHOTOGRAPHS REMAIN IN STUNNING EXCELLENT CONDITION, WITH VIRTUALLY NO AGING EVIDENT. THEY HAVE BEEN STORED VERY PROPERLY BY THE ORIGINAL RECIPIENT OVER THESE MANY YEARS.

WE WILL ALSO INCLUDE AN ADDITIONAL ORIGINAL (NOT A REPRODUCTION) 6˝" X 8˝" NEMPIX PROMOTIONAL PHOTOGRAPH "NEMPOSE PHOTO # 1" FOR THE POTENTIAL BUYER, SO THEY MAY HAVE THE OPTION TO FRAME THE SIGNED PHOTO WITH THE IDENTICAL ADDITIONAL PHOTO.

ACCOMPANIED BY LIFETIME LETTER OF AUTHENTICITY FROM FRANK CAIAZZO.
