DESCRIPTION (ACTUAL IMAGES) "POP WEEKLY" MAGAZINE LARGE 14½" X 9½" FOLD-OUT DEZO HOFFMAN 'COLLARLESS SUITS' PHOTO CENTERSPREAD AUTOGRAPHED BY THE BEATLES SIGNED OCTOBER 24, 1963, STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN
ON OCTOBER 24, THE BEATLES' FIRST DUTY IN SWEDEN WAS TO RECORD A RADIO APPEARANCE AT THE KARLAPLANSSTUDION, SITUATED IN THE CENTER OF STOCKHOLM. THE TITLE OF THE PROGRAM WAS A NEATLY DESCRIPTIVE TITLE, "THE BEATLES POP GROUP FROM LIVERPOOL VISITING STOCKHOLM". CLEARLY EXUBERATED AT PLAYING BEFORE THE SWEDISH AUDIENCE, PERHAPS PLEASED AT HAVING TO WORK HARDER TO WIN THEM OVER (THE BRITISH TEENAGE PUBLIC HAVING LONG LAPSED INTO ADORATION), THE BEATLES PUT IN A TERRIFIC PERFORMANCE, PLAYING LIVE AN EXCITING SET OF SEVEN SONGS "I SAW HER STANDING THERE", "FROM ME TO YOU", "MONEY", "ROLL OVER BEETHOVEN", "YOU REALLY GOT A HOLD ON ME", "SHE LOVES YOU" AND "TWIST AND SHOUT". PRODUCED BY KLAS BURLING, WHO HAD CALLED BRIAN EPSTEIN AND BOOKED THE BEATLES BY PHONE FOR THIS APPEARANCE, THE SESSION WAS RECORDED FROM 5:00 PM (WITHOUT PRIOR REHEARSAL) AND BROADCAST ON CHANNEL ONE OF SEVERIGES RADIO ON MONDAY NOVEMBER 11 FROM 10:05 TO 10:30 PM. PRESENTED HERE FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IS A RATHER large 14½" X 9½" foldout center spread of a GREAT BRITAIN magazine publiCATION entitlED “Pop Weekly”, SIGNED BEAUTIFULLY BY THE BEATLES DURING THE TAPING OF THE RADIO PROGRAM ON OCTOBER 24, 1963. The photo depicts The Beatles in a shot wearing their trademark grey collarless suits, taken by LEGENDARY BEATLES photographer Dezo Hoffman. All four have signed in blue ballpoint pen, on or above their respective imagE. THE SHOW'S PRODUCER Klas Burling, had this item signed by The Beatles on that day for one of his friends. These are SENSATIONAL, CRISP examples from that time period - just FOUR months PRIOR TO the GROUP'S FIRST arrivAL in the U.S. - AN EVENT THAT changed history. CONSIDERING ITS AGE AND THE THIN GLOSSY
PAPER MATERIAL OF THE MAGAZINE, THE CONDITION OF THE CENTERSPREAD IS A MOST
BRIGHT AND RESPECTABLE VG++, WITH SOME TYPICAL AGING AND SOME LIGHT CREASES
THROUGHOUT THAT DO NOT DETRACT FROM THE AUTOGRAPHS. THERE ARE TWO TINY VERTICAL
TEARS AT THE TOP EDGE AND A SMALL PIECE OF WHITE TAPE IN THAT AREA ON THE BACK
SIDE. IN PERSON, THIS PIECE RADIATES. THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE SIGNED
PORTRAIT ARE ADVERTISEMENTS OF THIS EDITION, INCLUDING THOSE OF ELVIS PRESLEY (WITH
A HAND-DRAWN FILLED-IN MUSTACHE AND GOATEE) AND MANFRED MANN.
