THE BEATLES THIRD ALBUM, "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT" WAS RELEASED ON JULY 10, 1964, FOUR DAYS AFTER THE LONDON PREMIERE OF THE FILM OF THE SAME NAME. THE ALBUM CONTAINS THE SEVEN SONGS FEATURED IN THE FILM ON SIDE ONE AND SIX OTHER SONGS RECORDED BY THE GROUP ON SIDE TWO. THE LP MARKED THE FIRST AND ONLY TIME ALL OF THE SONGS ON A BEATLES ALBUM WERE WRITTEN BY JOHN LENNON AND PAUL McCARTNEY. MANY OF THE SONGS WERE WRITTEN DURING THE GROUP'S THREE-WEEK STAY IN PARIS FOR A SERIES OF CONCERTS AT THE OLYMPIA THEATRE, AS WELL AS DURING THE GROUP'S FIRST U.S. VISIT IN FEBRUARY 1964. THE ALBUM TOOK 65 HOURS TO COMPLETE, INCLUDING MIXING TIME, WITH SESSIONS HELD ON 17 TOTAL DAYS.

THIS ORIGINAL MONAURAL U.K. PRESSING OF "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT" IS ABSOLUTELY MAJESTIC, WITH THIS PARTICULAR COVER BEING THE INITIAL FIRST RUN, HAVING THE MEDIUM SIZE "MONO" DESIGNATION IN THE UPPER RIGHT CORNER. This spectacular FIRST pressing dates from July 1964 release on the yellow AND black Parlophone label. Both labels have the earliest 'chubby' style WIDE font with the "Sold in UK..." text AND "The Parlophone Co." worded rims. An 'MT' purchase tax code is present in the centre of the side 1 label. THE Matrix numbers ARE: "XEX 481-3N" AND "XEX 482-3N", THE Stamper codes: "5/LO" AND "7/TL".  THE Labels ARE A NEAR MINT superb set with no more than two or three faint spindle trails around each cenTER hole. THE VINYL IS A SHIMMERING MINT MINUS "AS NEW" DISPLAYING Immaculate deep-gloss playing surfaces bearing nothing more than some harmless wispy marks from the inner-sleeve together with a sparkling rainbow shine directly beneath halogen light.

THE RECORD IS Housed in an immaculate AND rareR "Ernest J. Day" MANUFACTURED printed cover with THE wide-style rear flipbacks similar to those found on early "Please Please Me" ALBUMS. THE Cover IS A SENSATIONAL NEAR MINT. This magnificent example looks like it left the shops yesterday, let alone nearly 54 years ago. The immaculate high-gloss front panel is "as new" with no 'thumbnail' wrinkles or spine bends.  Being very critical, there are tiny bruises to the tips of the right corner but there is truly little else to fault. THE EXPOSED rear panel is pristine white AND totally unblemished and all the delicate flipbacks are in perfect, unworn condition. Both seams are smooth AND unstressed and the spine clearly AND fully worded. You will not find another as STUNNING.

THE SET IS Complete with its ACCOMPANYING original "Use Emitex..." rice-paper lined inner DUST sleeve.

ONE WOULD BE HARD PRESSED TO FIND ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF THIS TITLE AS IMMACULATE AND SPECTACULAR, AND MOST LIKELY THE BEST EXAMPLE IN EXISTENCE.
