ORIGINAL BRITISH PARLOPHONE RELEASES
"PLEASE PLEASE ME" |
||
DESCRIPTION (ACTUAL IMAGES) THIS VERY FIRST INITIAL UK PRESSING OF THE BEATLES SECOND SINGLE RELEASE IN GREAT BRITAIN DATES FROM THE FIRST WEEK OF RELEASE IN JANUARY 1963 AND IS ON THE ORIGINAL RED AND SILVER PARLOPHONE LABEL (45-R 4983). BECAUSE THE LABEL DESIGN AND COLOR WERE CHANGED TO BLACK JUST AS IT WAS ISSUED, THE RED LABEL ISSUE OF "PLEASE PLEASE ME" IS MORE DIFFICULT TO FIND THAN THE GROUP'S FIRST 45 RELEASE "LOVE ME DO". A rare 'PTMZ'
purchase tax code is visible in the centER of the 'Please, Please
Me' label, with 'MPT' stamped in both run-outs.
However, thE TAX CODE has been updated by the addition of a 'KT' stamp THAT WAS
APPLIED on TO the same A-SIDE label. THESE PHYSICALLY APPLIED TAX STAMPS RARELY
EVER SURFACE MAKING THIS EXAMPLE QUITE AN ULTRA-RARITY. THE STUNNING DISC IS Housed in its original
VG++ beach-striped COLORED Parlophone company sleeve.
