"REVOLVER" EXTREMELY RARE VERY
FIRST INITIAL MONAURAL PRESSING |
||
DESCRIPTION (ACTUAL IMAGES) The BEATLES SEVENTH ALBUM FOR EMI'S PARLOPHONE LABEL IS CONSIDERED BY MANY FANS AND CRITICS TO BE THE GROUP'S FINEST. RELEASED IN ENGLAND ON AUGUST 5, 1966, A WEEK BEFORE THE START OF THE GROUP'S THIRD AND FINAL TOUR OF NORTH AMERICA, REVOLVER FULLY LIVED UP TO THE HIGH EXPECTATIONS GENERATED BY THE PRIOR BEATLES SINGLE, PAPERBACK WRITER, AND THE GROUP'S PRECEDING LP, RUBBER SOUL. WHILE RUBBER SOUL IS REMEMBERED AS A COHESIVE COLLECTION OF GREAT SONGS, REVOLVER'S MOST STRIKING FEATURE IS ITS SOUND. FAB 4 COLLECTIBLES IS PROUD TO OFFER
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION THE EXTREMELY RARE VERY FIRST INITIAL MONAURAL PRESSING
OF REVOLVER WHICH IS INDICATED WITH THE STAMPED TRAIL-OFF MARKING ON SIDE
TWO AS "XEX-606-1". THIS STAMPER INDICATES THAT THE RECORD HAS THE ULTRA-RARE
MONO "REMIX 11" OF THE LAST TRACK OF THE ALBUM TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS.
WHEN THE MONO ALBUM WAS BANDED, "REMIX 11" WAS PLACED ON THE ALBUM'S MASTER
TAPE. THE FIRST LACQUER CUT FOR THE MONO ALBUM, AS WELL AS THE INITIAL PRESSINGS
OF THE MONO ALBUM (IDENTIFIED BY THE MATRIX NUMBER "XEX-606-1" IN THE TRAIL OFF
AREA OF SIDE 2), HAVE "REMIX 11". AFTER A RELATIVELY SMALL NUMBER OF MONO ALBUMS
WERE PRESSED WITH "REMIX 11", GEORGE MARTIN DECIDED THAT REMIX 8 SHOULD HAVE
BEEN USED. A NEW LACQUER WAS CUT WITH REMIX 8, AND ALL FUTURE PRESSINGS OF THE
ALBUM HAVE THIS MIX. THE PRIMARY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO MIXES IS THE
ADDITIONAL PIANO HEARD DURING THE SONG'S FADE OUT IN "REMIX 11". OVER THE YEARS,
COLLECTORS CONTINUE TO PAY A PREMIUM FOR THIS INITIAL PRESSING HAVING "REMIX 11"
OF TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS. THIS SET IS COMPLETE WITH ITS ORIGINAL 1966 PLAIN WHITE "PATENTS APPLIED FOR..." INNER DUST SLEEVE IN NEAR MINT MINUS CONDITION, DISPLAYING MINOR STORAGE CREASING ONLY.
