DESCRIPTION (ACTUAL IMAGES) The 1965 Christmas season was a very special time for Beatles fans. While previous albums had been collections of great performances, Rubber Soul is best appreciated when considered as an entire record - one that set a new standard for the Beatles and rock albums. George Martin's reflections indicate that this record's cohesive and innovative nature was intentional. "It was the first album to present a new, growing Beatles to the world. For the first time we began to think of albums as art on their own, as complete entities." EMI ALSO EXPORTED ITS RECORDS TO COUNTRIES
AND TERRITORIES THAT HAD LIMITED MANUFACTURING CAPACITY. IN ADDITION, THE
COMPANY SENT DISCS TO BRITISH AND AMERICAN MILITARY BASES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD
AND A FEW OTHER OUTLETS. DURING 1965 AND 1966, EMI MANUFACTURED ALBUMS FOR SALE AT U.S. BASES. THESE ALBUMS WERE
SOLD AT THE PX, A MILITARY POST STORE WHERE GOODS ARE SOLD TO SERVICEMAN AT
REDUCED PRICES. THE COVERS TO THESE ALBUMS WERE
MANUFACTURED BY GARROD AND LOFTHOUSE LTD. AND ARE ESSENTIALLY THE SAME LAYOUT WITH THE STANDARD LAMINATED FRONT COVERS AND FLAT SURFACE BACK
COVERS. THESE COVERS WERE SHRINKWRAPPED AND HAVE BEEN FOUND WITH $2.50
PRICE STICKERS ADHERED TO THE SHRINK. This pristiNE RECORD HAS the black & yellow Parlophone label, WITH Both labels carrYING the 'Sold in UK...' text AND 'The Gramophone Co..' worded rims.
