As we all know, the original cover to THE "Yesterday And Today" LP ALBUM  caused quite a stir when it made its limited appearance in June, 1966. It marked the first time that the Beatles judgment was severely and universally criticized. The controversial cover depicted the Beatles in white butcher smocks surrounded by slabs of meat and decapitated baby dolls. the facial expressions of the group fall somewhere between smirks and smiles.

Capitol proceeded with the pressing, packaging and shipping of 750,000 copies of the albums to its distributors. Advance copies were sent to the media. The response was immediate and uniformly negative - and forced Capitol Records president Alan Livingston to pull the plug on the Butcher. A massive recall plan was quickly formulated and Capitol sales reps were sent telegrams directing them to ship all copies of the album back to the factories immediately. The "Trunk Cover" was to be the replacement image for the LP - and the rest is history in the Collector's world.... Hence the First, Second, and Third State Butcher Covers were born.

Yet, what is more fascinating, Capitol prepared AN in-store promotional "INCREDIBLE!" BUTCHER COVER posters for the INITIAL release of the album - and was the only promotional item ever produced to promote this classic album . . . .  WHICH ALSO HAD TO BE RECALLED.

NO pin holes, NO tape stains, NO folds or creases -  and REMAINS STILL ROLLED,  as it was ORIGINALLY issued to record distributors. Absolutely 100% Original and Authentic, it measures 18" X 22", and as with all Original "authentic" Butcher Promotional Posters, it features the darker BLOOD red color "INCREDIBLE!"  print at the top SECTION of the poster. the legendary capitol records dome logo is printed in the center of the white border at the bottom edge.

WE HAVE ALSO photographed A SECTION OF THE "butcher" image TO DISPLAY THE ASTOUNDING RICH TEXTURES OF THE COLOR IMAGE. THE DEPTH OF CLARITY IS OVERWHELMING. THIS IS ONE OF THE ALL-TIME BEST LOOKING BEATLES PROMOTIONAL IN-STORE POSTERS IN EXISTENCE.
