DESCRIPTION (ACTUAL IMAGES) ONE OF THE THREE BEATLES-RELATED LAWSUITS INVOLVING VEE-JAY IN JANUARY OF 1964 INVOLVED THE COPYRIGHTS TO TWO OF THE SONGS FEATURED ON THE INITIAL FIRST ISSUE (VERSION 1) OF "INTRODUCING THE BEATLES", NAMELY "LOVE ME DO" AND "P.S. I LOVE YOU". ALTHOUGH VEE-JAY APPEALED THE DECISION AGAINST THEM, THE COMPANY DECIDED THAT IT COULD ELIMINATE ITS IMMEDIATE PROBLEM WITH ITS "INTRODUCING THE BEATLES" ALBUM BY DROPPING THE TWO SONGS FROM THE ALBUM. THESE SONGS WERE REPLACED WITH "ASK ME WHY" AND "PLEASE PLEASE ME". VEE-JAY PREPARED NEW COVERS FOR THE REVAMPED VERSION TWO ALBUM, RELEASED ONE MONTH AFTER VERSION ONE ON FEBRUARY 10, 1964, WHICH IS SOMETIMES REFERRED TO AS THE "PLEASE, PLEASE ME" OR THE "ASK ME WHY" VERSION. THE FRONT COVER OF THE ALBUM IS THE SAME AS THE VERSION ONE COVER BUT WITHOUT "PRINTED IN U.S.A." IN THE LOWER LEFT OF THE FRONT COVER. THE BACK COVER IS IDENTICAL TO THE TITLES ON BACK VARIATION OF VERSION ONE, EXCEPT FOR THE SUBSTITUTION OF THE TITLES OF THE TWO SONGS THAT REPLACED "LOVE ME DO" AND "P.S. I LOVE YOU". THIS ORIGINAL AND AUTHENTIC MONAURAL PRESSING OF VERSION TWO OF THE FIRST BEATLES ALBUM IN AMERICA IS VIRTUALLY PERFECT FROM CORNER TO CORNER - TRULY A WORLD-CLASS EXAMPLE. THE COVER REMAINS IN THE ORIGINAL FACTORY SHRINKWRAP AND IS ONE OF THE BEST THAT HAS EVER SURFACED OR IS KNOWN TO EXIST. IT RETAINS A FRESH "NEWNESS" AS IT WAS ISSUED IN FEBRUARY 1964.THE FRONT COVER IMAGES ARE GORGEOUS, BOLD AND CRISP WITH OUTSTANDING SHARP GRAPHICS. THE BACK COVER'S WHITE BACKGROUND IS "SNOW" WHITE WITH NO YELLOWING ANYWHERE. THERE IS NO RINGWEAR OR RECORD IMPRESSION ON THE COVER AT ALL. THE SPINE IS PERFECTLY SHARP AND LEGIBLE. ALL FOUR CORNERS ARE SHARP WITH NO PUSHES OR BUMPS. THE TIP CORNER OF THE BOTTOM LEFT CORNER PEAKS OUT A BIT AND THERE'S JUST A TOUCH OF WEAR TO BOTTOM LEFT CORNER. THE NEAR MINT, SHIMMERING RECORD IS THE VERY RARE VARIANT HAVING THE "OVAL" STYLE VEE-JAY LOGO ( VJ1062(2).MR1B, SPIZER) ON THE LABELS, AND THE VIBRANT LABELS ON THIS EXAMPLE ARE SPECTACULAR "AS NEW". IT HAS SMALL PRINT THROUGHOUT WITH LEFT JUSTIFIED TITLES AND CREDITS. THE WORDS "LONG PLAYING" AND "MICROGROOVE" DO NOT APPEAR ON THE LABEL. THIS VARIATION HAS "URJ" AND THE MATRIX NUMBERS 63-3402 AND 63-3403 HAND ETCHED ON BOTH SIDES. THESE CHARACTERISTICS ARE SIMILAR TO ALBUMS THAT WERE PRESSED BY COLUMBIA RECORDS IN BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT. THE OVAL LOGO STYLE LABEL VARIATION IS THE RAREST FOR THE VERSION TWO ISSUE OF "INTRODUCING THE BEATLES", FOR BY THE TIME THE RECONFIGURED ALBUM WAS RELEASED IN FEBRUARY OF 1964, THE MAJORITY OF VEE-JAY'S RECORDS WERE BEING PRESSED WITH THE NEW BLACK LABEL BACKDROPS FEATURING THE OUTER RIM COLORBAND AND THE BRACKETS LOGO - MAKING THE EARLY OVAL STYLE LOGO MUCH RARER AND SOUGHT AFTER. HERE'S YOUR CHANCE TO ACQUIRE A HIGH GRADE COPY OF THIS RARE CLASSIC BEATLES VEE-JAY ALBUM IN THE ORIGINAL SHRINKWRAP - ACCOMPANIED BY THE RECORD WITH THE RARE "OVAL" LOGO VARIATION. THE SET ALSO RETAINS THE ORIGINAL GENERIC WHITE VEE-JAY INNER DUST SLEEVE.
