(ACTUAL IMAGES)
MOVIE THEATRE LOBBY CARDS (AND POSTERS) OF THE 1960'S THAT WERE SENT TO THEATER OWNERS WERE EXPECTED TO BE
RETURNED TO THE NATIONAL SCREEN SERVICE (THE MANUFACTURERS OF THE MERCHANDISE) OR DESTROYED
AFTER BEING USED TO PROMOTE THE MOVIE. MANY TIMES THE ITEMS GATHERED DUST IN THEATER
BASEMENTS OR WERE TAKEN HOME BY PATRONS OR EMPLOYEES.HERE WE PRESENT A MOST
STUNNING, RARE VINTAGE 1964 ORIGINAL COMPLETE SET OF THE 8 LOBBY CARDS ISSUED
FOR THE BEATLES CLASSIC MOVIE, "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT". MEASURING 11" X 14"
AND EACH NUMBERED CONSECUTIVELY,
THESE ARE TRULY WORLD CLASS EXAMPLES AND AMONG THE BEST SURVIVING SETS IN
EXISTENCE. EACH AND EVERY ONE REMAIN IN OUTSTANDING NEAR MINT CONDITION, AND
APPARENTLY ONLY TWO WERE USED FOR DISPLAY IN THE THEATRE AT THE TIME OF THE
FILM'S RUN BACK IN THE SUMMER OF 1964: LOBBY CARD NUMBERS 3 AND 4, HAVE TWO TINY
CLEANLY REMOVED STAPLE HOLES IN THE UPPER LEFT AND RIGHT CORNERS, THAT DO NOT
AFFECT THE OVERALL APPEARANCE OR PRESENTATION OF THEM. OUR CAMERA IMAGES OF EACH
CARD, DO NOT TRULY DISPLAY THE BRILLIANCE, DEEP BOLD COLORS, AND THE UNIQUE
CLARITY AS THEY APPEAR IN PERSON. ALL THE CORNERS ARE SHARP, NO BENDS, NO
CREASES, NO FADING, AND WITHOUT TEARS, TAPE, WRITING OR OTHER FLAWS.
REMARKABLY, THE EIGHT LOBBY CARDS WERE FOUND STILL REMAINING IN THE ORIGINAL
12" X 15" LOBBY CARDS ENVELOPE, PACKAGED AND DISTRIBUTED IN THIS MANNER BY
NATIONAL SCREEN SERVICE. TO OUR KNOWLEDGE, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME ONE OF THESE
ENVELOPES HAVE SURFACED, THUS MAKING THIS SET TRULY COMPLETE. THE ENVELOPE HAS A
HAND WRITTEN NOTE IN BLUE CRAYON READING "PLEASE USE 11 X 14'S FOR 22 X 28".
MOST IMPORTANTLY, IT ALSO HAS THE IDENTICAL STANDARD 'NSS' BLUE STAMPING USUALLY
SEEN ON THE BACK OF THE MOVIE POSTERS (POSTERS ALSO HAD THE POSTER SIZE SUCH AS
'1 SH' OR '3 SH'). A TWO-PART NUMBER WAS ALWAYS ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL SCREEN
SERVICE TO EVERY MOVIE IN THE UNITED STATES, AND ALWAYS STAMPED ON THE BACK OF THE
POSTERS THAT WERE DISTRIBUTED. THE NUMBER FOR "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT" IS "64/261".
THE FIRST NUMBER (64) IS THE YEAR OF RELEASE - 1964. THE SECOND NUMBER (261) IS
THE UNIQUE NUMBER ISSUED TO A MOVIE THAT YEAR: "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT 64/261".
THE ENVELOPE IS GRADED VG+, DISPLAYING SOME TEARS TO THE OPENED TOP SIDE, AND
VARIOUS OTHER SMALL TEARS TO THE OTHER EDGES. THE STAMPING AND WRITING ARE AS
CLEAR AS CAN BE.
THIS IS WITHOUT QUESTION, THE VERY BEST AND COMPLETE SET OF "A HARD DAY'S NIGHT"
LOBBY CARDS - THE BEATLES'
FIRST MOTION PICTURE - ONE THAT IS MOST LOVED AND HAILED.
