CAPITOL RECORDS WAS INVOLVED IN A BEATLES TIE-IN WITH
THE POPULAR MOTEL CHAIN HOLIDAY INN, AND
PREPARED PROMOTIONAL FLYERS, (CAPPRO.HI.PS1, SPIZER)
PROMOTING HOLIDAY INN AND THE BEATLES.
APPARENTLY, THE FLYERS WERE FOLDED AT THE CENTER
AND DISTRIBUTED TO GUESTS OF THE MOTEL WITH A REGULAR
BEATLES 45 SINGLE PLACED INSIDE. THE FLYERS WERE STAPLED
TO HOLD THE RECORD IN PLACE.
THERE ARE ONLY ABOUT 125 EXAMPLES OF THIS RARE FLYER KNOWN TO EXIST. OF
THOSE 125, ONLY A VERY FEW HAVE BEEN FOUND IN ITS 14½"
X 8½"
ORIGINAL UNFOLDED STATE.
THIS EXAMPLE IS CAPITOL'S TRIMMED 7" X 7" EXAMPLE AND HAS BEEN FOLDED AND STORED FOR THE LAST 50+ YEARS. IT IS IN UNCIRCULATED,
UN-STAPLED, NEAR MINT "AS NEW" ,UNCIRCULATED CONDITION.
THE SIZE WHEN IN UNFOLDED, OPEN POSITION IS APPROXIMATELY 7" X 14".
PREPARED BY CAPITOL IN JULY 1964 SHORTLY AFTER THE RELEASE OF THE "SOMETHING
NEW" ALBUM, THIS UNIQUE PROMOTIONAL ITEM BRINGS BACK MEMORIES OF THE BEATLES
EARLY MUSIC AND SUMMER CAR TRIPS SPENT AT VARIOUS HOLIDAY INNS ACROSS AMERICA.
IT IS INDEED A RARE PIECE, AND IS HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE. THESE ARE SURFACING LESS
