DESCRIPTION
(ACTUAL IMAGES)THIS BEAUTIFUL STEREO FIRST PRESSING FACTORY SEALED EXAMPLE OF
CAPITOL'S GATEFOLD DOUBLE LP ALBUM "THE BEATLES' STORY" IS AN EAST COAST
(SCRANTON, PENNSYLVANIA) FACTORY PRESSING, DICTATED BY THE BRIGHT "WHITE" TONE
COLORED WRAP-AROUND SLICK THAT IS EVIDENT (THE WEST COAST ISSUES SLICKS WERE A "CREAM" COLORED TONE).
THE $2.49 GIMBEL'S DEPARTMENT STORE 2¾" X 1½"
STICKER ADHERED TO THE FRONT COVER SHRINK IS FURTHER EVIDENCE THAT THIS
IS AN EAST COAST ISSUE, FOR GIMBEL'S FLAGSHIP STORE WAS IN NEW YORK CITY (IN ITS
HEYDAY THE
DEPARTMENT STORE WAS MACY'S MAJOR RIVAL).
THIS HEAVY-WEIGHT ALBUM HAS
TWO FACTORY SHRINKWRAP "BREATH HOLES" EVIDENT ON THE FRONT, WITH AN EXTREMELY TIGHT SEAL CORNER TO CORNER.
THERE ARE NO RIPS, NO TEARS.
THE MOUTH OPENINGS REMAINS TIGHTLY SEALED AND ALL FOUR CORNERS ARE SHARP.
THE SPINE PRINT IS CENTERED, SHARP, CLEAR AND LAYS JUST A TOUCH
ACROSS THE EDGE OF THE SPINE ON THE BACK. THE BLUE INNER SLEEVES (EARLY 1964
CAPITOL SLEEVE) ARE VISIBLE THROUGH BOTH MOUTH OPENINGS, SIGNIFYING TRUE FIRST
PRESSING. STEREO COPIES OF BEATLES ALBUMS MANUFACTURED PRIOR TO 1966 ARE SIGNIFICANTLY
RARER THAN THEIR MONO COUNTERPARTS. IT'S ESTIMATED THAT ONLY FIFTEEN PERCENT OF
CAPITOL'S BEATLES ALBUMS MANUFACTURED PRIOR TO 1966 WERE STEREO. THIS
EXAMPLE OF THIS TITLE IS THE BEST WE HAVE EVER OFFERED - AND IT'S A TRUE GEM.
THE SEALED ALBUM IS ACCOMPANIED BY A LETTER OF
AUTHENTICITY FROM THOMAS VANGHELE, PROPRIETOR OF FAB 4 COLLECTIBLES.
