DESCRIPTION
(ACTUAL SCANS)
FOR THE RELEASE OF THE FIRST BEATLES MOVIE AND
THE SOUNDTRACK ALBUM, UNITED ARTISTS PRESSED A LIMITED
NUMBER OF MONO PROMOTIONAL SOUNDTRACK ALBUMS.
IN STARK CONTRAST TO THE RELEASED VERSION OF THE BLACK LABEL
BACKDROPS WHICH FEATURED WHITE PRINT AND THE UNITED ARTISTS
LOGO CONTAINING A SERIES OF OVERLAPPING CIRCLES IN VARIOUS COLORS,
THE PROMOTIONAL PRESSINGS UTILIZED BLACK PRINT ON STARK WHITE LABELS.
THE PHRASE "NOT FOR SALE" APPEARS BELOW THE RECORD NUMBER
TO THE RIGHT OF THE CENTER HOLE.
FAB 4 COLLECTIBLES IS VERY PROUD TO PRESENT
THIS PROMO LP RARITY IN GLIMMERING MINT MINUS CONDITION.
THIS PRESSING OFFERED HERE (UA3366.DJ1A, SPIZER) IS THE
COLUMBIA RECORDS VARIATION, PRESSED AT ITS FACTORY IN
PITMAN, NEW JERSEY - AND/OR POSSIBLY IN BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT.
THIS RECORD IS EXTREMELY RARE FOR THREE REASONS:1. ACCORDING TO RENOWNED BEATLES AUTHOR BRUCE SPIZER,
IT IS BELIEVED THAT LESS THAN 500 COPIES OF THIS PROMOTIONAL
SOUNDTRACK
ALBUM WERE PRESSED AND DISTRIBUTED ONLY
TO SELECTED RADIO STATIONS.
2. DUE TO THE FACT THAT THESE RECORDS WERE SOLELY
INTENDED TO PROMOTE THE MOTION PICTURE, MOST DISC JOCKEYS DID NOT
SAVE THESE
RECORDS AFTER THE FILM HAD RUN ITS COURSE.
3. THIS IS THE ONLY ORIGINALLY RELEASED BEATLES ALBUM THAT
WAS PRODUCED AS A PROMOTIONAL "NOT FOR SALE" ISSUE. VEE-JAY OR CAPITOL
RECORDS NEVER DID.
FINDING THIS PROMOTIONAL PRESSING IN THIS CONDITION IS QUITE AN ACHIEVEMENT, FOR
USUALLY THE WHITE LABELS WOULD DISPLAY VERY ROUGH AGING AND WRITING, NOT TO
MENTION THE VINYL WEAR. AS EVIDENT IN THE SCANS BELOW, THE LABELS ARE VERY
STUNNING AND THE WHITE TONE REMAINS IN BRILLIANT CLARITY. THE VINYL GRADES A
STELLAR AND TRUE MINT MINUS AND APPEARS UNPLAYED. THE AREAS AROUND THE SPINDLE
HOLE SHOWS NO WEAR, YET SLIGHTLY EVIDENT THAT IT WAS PLAYED PERHAPS ONLY ONCE,
THEN STORED AWAY. THE GROOVES AND ORIGINAL SHEEN OF THIS VINYL ARE STILL
RETAINED IN ALL ITS SHIMMERING "FACTORY FRESH" BEAUTY. THERE IS SIMPLY ONE
SUPERFICIAL LIGHT LINE ON SIDE ONE BEGINNING AT THE FIRST TRACK AND RUNNING
ACROSS THAT WAS MOST LIKELY CAUSED BY AN INNER SLEEVE PULL, AND AGAIN, IT IS LIGHT,
THIN AND
SUPERFICIAL ON THE VINYL.
THE ORIGINAL ACCOMPANYING MONO COVER IS THE CORRECT VARIATION, WHICH IS THE
FIRST ISSUE BACK COVER CONTAINING THE "3 LINE PUBLISHING CREDITS"- AND IS GRADED
AT A NEAR MINT.
NO SPLITS, NO RINGWEAR,
NO SPLITS, AND THE GRAPHICS ARE BOLD WITH STRIKING COLORS ON BOTH SIDES. THE
SPINE IS SOLID AND COMPLETELY LEGIBLE. ONLY SIGN OF WEAR IS JUST VERY MINIMAL
WITH THE TYPICAL TIP WEAR ON THE UPPER AND LOWER RIGHT CORNERS, YET AGAIN, VERY
MINIMAL. IT IS DEFINITELY EVIDENT THAT THIS COVER HAS BEEN PROPERLY STORED OVER
THE YEARS, ALONG WITH THE RECORD.
THE ORIGINAL UNITED ARTISTS INNER SLEEVE IS ALSO INCLUDED AND GRADES A SOLID
NEAR MINT AS WELL, WITH NO SPLITS OR TEARS.
THE COMPANION PIECE, THE ULTRA-RARE 'H.V. WADDELL' PRESSING FROM BURBANK, CALIFORNIA
IS ALSO AVAILABLE FROM FAB 4 COLLECTIBLES.
