DESCRIPTION
(ACTUAL IMAGES)
FOR THE RELEASE OF THE FIRST BEATLES MOVIE AND
THE SOUNDTRACK ALBUM, UNITED ARTISTS PRESSED A LIMITED
NUMBER OF MONO PROMOTIONAL "NOT FOR SALE" SOUNDTRACK ALBUMS.
IN STARK CONTRAST TO THE RELEASED VERSION OF THE BLACK LABEL
BACKDROPS WHICH FEATURED WHITE PRINT AND THE UNITED ARTISTS
LOGO CONTAINING A SERIES OF OVERLAPPING CIRCLES IN VARIOUS COLORS,
THE PROMOTIONAL PRESSINGS UTILIZED BLACK PRINT ON STARK WHITE LABELS.
THE PHRASE "NOT FOR SALE" APPEARS BELOW THE RECORD NUMBER
TO THE RIGHT OF THE CENTER HOLE.
FAB 4 COLLECTIBLES IS VERY PROUD TO PRESENT
THE "BEST CONDITIONED, WORLD CLASS EXAMPLE"
EVER OFFERED OF THIS RARITY.
THIS PRESSING OFFERED HERE (UA3366.DJ1B, SPIZER) IS THE MEGA-RARE
H.V. WADDELL VARIATION, PRESSED IN BURBANK, CALIFORNIA (AS OPPOSED TO THE
COLUMBIA PRESSING FROM EITHER PITMAN, NEW JERSEY OR BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT).
THE WADDELL PRESSING IS EXTREMELY RARE FOR FOUR REASONS:1. ACCORDING TO RENOWNED BEATLES AUTHOR BRUCE SPIZER,
IT IS BELIEVED THAT LESS THAN 500 COPIES OF THIS PROMOTIONAL
SOUNDTRACK
ALBUM WERE PRESSED AND DISTRIBUTED ONLY
TO SELECTED RADIO STATIONS.
2. THE WADDELL PRESSING IS RARELY FOUND, FOR IT IS ESTIMATED THAT IT IS 3 TO 1
SCARCER THAN THE COLUMBIA PRESSING, WITH APPROXIMATELY
ONLY 150 IN EXISTENCE.
3. DUE TO THE FACT THAT THESE RECORDS WERE SOLELY
INTENDED TO PROMOTE THE MOTION PICTURE, MOST DISC JOCKEYS DID NOT
SAVE THESE
RECORDS AFTER THE FILM HAD RUN ITS COURSE.
4. THIS IS THE ONLY ORIGINALLY RELEASED BEATLES ALBUM THAT
WAS PRODUCED AS A PROMOTIONAL "NOT FOR SALE" ISSUE. VEE-JAY OR CAPITOL
RECORDS NEVER DID.
FINDING THIS PROMOTIONAL PRESSING IN THIS CONDITION IS QUITE AN ACHIEVEMENT, FOR
USUALLY THE WHITE LABELS WOULD DISPLAY VERY ROUGH AGING AND WRITING, NOT TO
MENTION THE VINYL WEAR. AS EVIDENT IN THE SCANS BELOW, THE LABELS ARE SO
STUNNING AND THE WHITE TONE REMAINS IN BRILLIANT CLARITY. THE VINYL GRADES A
STELLAR AND TRUE MINT MINUS AND APPEARS UNPLAYED. THE AREAS AROUND THE SPINDLE
HOLE SHOWS NO WEAR, YET SLIGHTLY EVIDENT THAT IT WAS PLAYED PERHAPS ONLY ONCE,
THEN STORED AWAY. THE GROOVES AND ORIGINAL SHEEN OF THIS VINYL ARE STILL
RETAINED IN ALL ITS SHIMMERING "FACTORY FRESH" BEAUTY. THERE IS SIMPLY ONE
SUPERFICIAL LIGHT LINE ON SIDE TWO ACROSS THE FIRST TRACK THAT WAS VERY LIKELY CAUSED BY AN INNER SLEEVE PULL, AND AGAIN, IT IS A LIGHT,
THIN AND
SUPERFICIAL ON THE VINYL.
THE ORIGINAL ACCOMPANYING MONO COVER IS THE CORRECT VARIATION, WHICH IS THE
FIRST ISSUE BACK COVER CONTAINING THE "3 LINE PUBLISHING CREDITS"- AND IS GRADED
AT A GORGEOUS NEAR MINT.
NO SPLITS, NO RINGWEAR,
NO SPLITS, AND THE GRAPHICS ARE VIBRANT AND STUNNING ON BOTH SIDES. THE SPINE IS
MERE PERFECTION. SO SIGN OF WEAR IS JUST VERY MINIMAL WITH THE TYPICAL TINY TIP
WEAR ON THREE OF THE CORNERS, YET AGAIN, VERY MINIMAL. IT IS DEFINITELY EVIDENT
THAT THIS COVER HAS BEEN PROPERLY STORED OVER THE YEARS, ALONG WITH THE RECORD.
THE ORIGINAL UNITED ARTISTS INNER SLEEVE IS ALSO INCLUDED AND GRADES A SOLID
NEAR MINT AS WELL, WITH NO SPLITS OR TEARS.
THE COMPANION PIECE, THE 'COLUMBIA RECORDS' PROMOTIONAL PRESSING
IS ALSO AVAILABLE FROM FAB 4 COLLECTIBLES.
