VERSION 2

ULTRA-RARE COLORBAND & BRACKETS LOGO LABEL VARIATION WITH ALL UPPER CASE FONTS AND "MICROGROOVE" & "LONGPLAYING" ADDED

The number of label and typesetting variations for the mono Version Two records OF VEE-JAY'S "INTRODUCING THE BEATLES" boggles the mind. THIS EXTREMELY RARE LABEL VARIATION BEING OFFERED HERE has the black label with an outer rim colorband featuring THE "VJ" BRACKETS logo. The typesetting variation of this record has left justified song titles and songwriters' credits in small type with medium type "INTRODUCING THE BEATLES" and "SIDE I" and "SIDE II" and small type "LONGPLAYING" and "MICROGROOVE" on the label.

THE DIFFERENTIAL FACTOR AND WHAT MAKES THIS VARIATION UNIQUE IS THAT ALL FONTS ARE IN UPPER CASE LETTERS, ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE IN THE ALBUM'S TITLE. THE WORD "THE" IS ALL CAPITALIZED, AS COMPARED TO ALL OTHER VERSIONS WHICH HAVE THE WORD "the" IN LOWER CASE. also the addition of the words "LONGPLAYING" and "MICROGROOVE" have been printed as one word on each.

THE DISC IS A MAGNIFICENT AND SHIMMERING NEAR MINT THROUGHOUT ON BOTH THE VINYL AND RARE LABELS, AND THE NEAR MINT MINUS VERSION TWO ALBUM COVER RETAINS A FRESH "NEWNESS" TO IT. THE FRONT COVER IMAGES ARE GORGEOUS, BOLD AND CRISP WITH OUTSTANDING SHARP GRAPHICS.

ALSO INCLUDED IS THE ACCOMPANYING ORIGINAL VEE-JAY "AD BACK" INNER DUST SLEEVE IN BEAUTIFUL NEAR MINT MINUS CONDITION.

FIRST ISSUE VERSION TWO COVER.
RARE "PASTE OVER" BACK COVER & "PLEASE PLEASE ME" WITHOUT COMMA.

THE MOST INTERESTING, RAREST AND SOUGHT AFTER VARIATION TO THE MONO VERSION TWO COVER. AFTER THE DECISION WAS MADE TO REISSUE THE ALBUM WITH THE TWO DIFFERENT SONGS, VEE-JAY STILL HAD A SUPPLY OF MONO VERSION ONE COVERS LEFT OVER. RATHER THAN DESTROY THESE COVERS, VEE-JAY HAD VERSION TWO "PLEASE PLEASE ME" BACK COVER SLICKS PASTED OVER THE VERSION ONE BACK COVER SLICKS.

CLICK ON THE TWO IMAGES OF THE BACK COVER CLOSE-UP SCANS TO VIEW LARGER IMAGES THAT DISPLAY THE DETAIL OF THE SONG TITLES VISIBLE BENEATH THE TOP PASTE-OVER SLICK. IN PARTICULAR, THE TWO REPLACEMENT SONGS "ASK ME WHY" AND "PLEASE PLEASE ME". THE ORIGINAL TRACKS "LOVE ME DO" AND "P.S. I LOVE YOU" ARE SEEN QUITE CLEARLY.

YET ANOTHER RARE HIGHLIGHT ... THE SLICK THAT HAS BEEN PASTED OVER IS INDEED THE VERY FIRST SLICK PRINTED THAT FEATURES THE REPLACEMENT SONG "PLEASE PLEASE ME" WITHOUT THE COMMA.

THE ACCOMPANYING MONO RECORD IS THE COLORBAND AND BRACKETS LABEL VARIATION, (VJ1062(2).MR2D(ii), SPIZER). IT HAS LEFT JUSTIFIED SONG TITLES AND INDENTED CREDITS WITH "INTRODUCING the BEATLES" (THE WORD "THE" IN LOWER CASE), "MICROGROOVE" AND "LONG PLAYING" SEPARATED INTO TWO WORDS. VERSION 2

COVER REMAINS IN ORIGINAL SHRINKWRAP,
ACCOMPANIED BY RARER 45 SIZE LABEL VARIATION

VEE-JAY'S HABIT OF USING WHATEVER LABEL BACKDROPS WERE AVAILABLE LED TO A STRANGE VARIATION OF THIS RECORD. AS WAS THE CASE WITH VERSION ONE OF THIS ALBUM, SOME RECORDS WERE PRESSED WITH 45-SIZE LABELS - WHICH HAVE CENTERED SONG TITLES AND CREDITS, INCLUDING THE "COFFIN-KING" TYPO (SHOULD READ "GOFFIN-KING"), WITH "MICROGROOVE" AND "LONGPLAYING". HOWEVER, IT IS PRINTED ON A BLACK LABEL WITH AN OUTER RIM COLORBAND FEATURING A SMALL BRACKETS LOGO ON A 45-SIZE LABEL. THIS RECORD WAS MANUFACTURED BY ARP. (VJ1062(2).MR3, SPIZER). THE CONDITION OF THIS EXAMPLE IS A HIGH GLOSS, CLEAN NEAR MINT MINUS BORDERING VG++ WITH DEEP BEAUTIFUL GROOVES.

AS EVIDENT IN THE SCAN OF THE LABEL, THE SIDE 1 LABEL HAS VEEJAY'S TYPICAL PRODUCTION FLAW (ALSO SEEN ON MANY OF THEIR 45 SINGLES) WHERE A SMALL AREA OF VINYL ON THE CIRCULAR RIM HAS AN UNEVEN LEVEL, THEREFORE THE APPLIED LABEL HAS AN UNEVEN APPEARANCE

THE RECORD'S ACCOMPANYING VERSION 2 COVER IS A NEAR MINT TRUE GEM INDEED, REMAINING IN ITS ORIGINAL SHRINKWRAP AND PRESENTS ITSELF MAGNIFICENTLY.

THE ONLY MINOR FLAW IS A MISSING 5 1/2" PIECE OF TORN SHRINK ON THE FRONT COVER ONLY IN THE UPPER RIGHT AREA. YET, THAT AREA OF THE COVER IS UNAFFECTED BY THIS, AND THE ONLY SIGN OF HANDLING WEAR IS A MILLIMETER TOUCH ON THE TOP EDGE NEAR THE RIGHT EDGE. THERE IS ALSO A 3" SHRINK SPLIT ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT EDGE, YET SHRINK REMAINS COMPLETELY INTACT IN THAT AREA. THAT IS THE EXTENT OF ANY IMPERFECTIONS ON THIS COVER. THE GRAPHICS AND ITS BOLD COLORS ARE SPARKLING ON THE COVER.

THE BACK COVER IS IMPECCABLE, GLOSSY, CLEAN AND WHITE WITH NO WEAR ANYWHERE.

THE SPINE IS PHENOMENAL - SOLID AND LEGIBLE FROM END TO END.

CONDITION: NM / NM- (VG++)

VERSION 2

THIS IS A VERY BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF A VERSION TWO SET. THE COVER GRADES A SOLID NEAR MINT MINUS SHOWING VERY MINIMAL HANDLING WEAR. YET, THE GRAPHICS AND IMAGES ARE BRILLIANT AND BOLD. NO RINGWEAR, NO SPLITS.

JUST A TOUCH OF WEAR ON FRONT COVER BY PAUL'S ARM. THAT'S IT. THE BACK COVER IS CLEAN AND WHITE.

THE SPINE IS SOLID, CRISP AND LEGIBLE, WITH SOME WEAR ON THE CORNERS ONLY.

THE ACCOMPANYING MONO RECORD IS THE COLORBAND AND BRACKETS LABEL VARIATION, VJ1062(2).MR2B, SPIZER.

IT HAS SMALL PRINT THROUGHOUT WITH LEFT JUSTIFIED TITLES AND CREDITS. THE WORDS "LONG PLAYING" AND "MICROGROOVE" DO NOT APPEAR ON THE LABEL. THE TRAIL OFF AREAS HAVE HAND ETCHED MATRIX NUMBERS AND JOB NUMBERS, AS WELL AS THE "MR" CIRCULAR LOGO, INDICATING THAT THIS DISC WAS PRESSED BY MONARCH.

THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD AND LABELS ARE A GREAT NEAR MINT MINUS, SHOWING VERY LITTLE PLAY TIME.

THIS ORIGINAL AND AUTHENTIC MONAURAL PRESSING OF VERSION TWO OF THE FIRST BEATLES ALBUM IN AMERICA IS VIRTUALLY PERFECT FROM CORNER TO CORNER - TRULY A WORLD-CLASS EXAMPLE.
